*wipes dust off thread after it being buried in the archives for a long long time....* ALOT of things have happened to this wee car since it was last seen on here but soon as I get use of someones laptop, I will fire up the meatiest, picture packed update ever to feed your starlet obsession. shes lookin real good now for those who dont have me on Facebook. shes been driven a few times now and despite needin the boost setup properly, she pulls strong and quickly and handles well. suggestions on how to bring the revs down!
PaulStarletSR replied to PaulStarletSR's topic in Alternative Engine Discussions
Pulled the vac line out of the Map sensor and the revs dropped from 1600rpm to a healthy 800rpm, exactly how it should be. so bought another Map sensor earlier and that should sort it. its weird because when I rev it with the vac line plugged into the Map sensor, at 4000rpm the EML will come on and stay on until I turn her off. then if I pull out the vac line and rev her up, no EML so aye, moneys on this existing Map sensor bein fucked -

96 and 98 spec temp sensor differences.

Had 96spec clocks which were fucked, but we wont go into that just now, so changed them for 98 clocks from someone trustworthy and now my fuel read out actually works. however, the downside is ive now lost use of the temp gauge. what I need to know is, because ive got a 96spec sensor, is the gauge not reading the temp because of the differences in the sensors? if so, is it possible to just fire in a 98 sensor or would I have to chop the wires and wire in a 98 plug to fit the sensor? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
