True on that one, the tubular intake manifold would be a good solution, also an 50mm throttle body can be an upgrade. Some 5EFE have a 45mm ( latest gen )
Stock 5EFE exhaust manifold is not really a performance piece haha..
Love the wheels mate
everyone seems to be going for the 5EFE engine haha, There are 2 if not 3 Generation made ( correct me if im wrong )

Hi Teun
Fitted the rear disc brakes so i've seen, all in good working order ?
Did you allready did an compression test ? it should be around the 180 psi, 12 a 12.5 bar, DRY
The leakage is common, I cleaned the rocker cover + anything else around it and try to turn the rocker cover bolts/nuts a little and the leaking is gone.. if they still leak afterwards you can always change the gasket.
Gates powergrip is used by toyota, checked that one few weeks ago.

OEPS i forgot to take out the balanced and lightweight flywheel ( 4efte ) crap
And also the TRD Clutch and pressure plate
The gearbox was also flushed and like new
And the bottomblock was still in the car. refurbished 2 years ago.
And the special trailer arm bearings....
I try not to think of it.... as it still hurts.
Bought the new car Paseo year of build 99 for 345 quid.... With no MOT so it is a little challenge.
Things that needed to be fixed were:
Rust on the rear brakelines.
and the cv joint boot was torn.
Also headlight polish because they were a bit yellow.
And exhaust mounting fixed.
Also fitted new
Timing belt old one was 10,000 miles over. and a year too old.
Tensioner
idler pulley ( old one was busted )
Oil seal
Crankshaft seal
Serpetine ribbed belt for power steering and waterpump and alternator.
New motor oil Castrol GTX 5w40
New Gearbox oil Castrol multi 75w90
New gearbox axle seal ( long one )
Logitech surround sound dolby pro logic into the car.
Subwoofer in the trunk panel between the seats.
Front oem speaker in the door is good to go with the surround set added the tweeter and making them both 8ohm.
The rear speaker adaptor plate are the only 2 ones left of the set.
Fitted ford fiesta tweeters into the triangle
Fitted renault hazard horns duo to the terrible sound of the oem toyota horn.
Added this,
added remote trunk opener with an doormotor to the tailgate
added immobilizer. So i got 2 instead of 1 lol....
added new function when unlocking the car the headlights go on.
added Running lights to the car
added Xenon 6000K
Repainted the cusco lateral rod with spherical bearings on both sides.
Adjusting it to the oem length because the car hasen't been lowered yet.
Today changed the wishbone on both sides and hub and housing.
Driveshaft busted
Car was always repaired at toyota lol
Old vs new
Also cleaned the stuff in the rear
Paseo on Volk RAYS Engineering 15" with michelin pilot 195 50 15 tyres
Also the rear licence plate holder has a stainless steel polished surrounding.
My starlet old wishbone + hub + driveshafts were transfert onto the paseo.
Same as the Rear swaybar from whiteline which has a new paint job also.
Need to change the exhaust bends because my lower arm bar won't fit
Also did an compression test on all cylinders. it was all arround the 180 PSI. So the engine is good to go.

Overijssel > Twente haha.
Well ep71 project ended.
Bought me an Toyota paseo GT that also have been modified! Had some leftovers from my starlet.

The body looks rock solid....
The handbrake cables need a little more play ( space ) because there too long for the ep7. And if your handbrake feels sloppy when you pull the lever.
Try to fit some washers onder the adjustable nut for the lever... It will feel a lot better when you do so.
Do you use the ep8 splitter or the ep7 ?
If you are going to use a power cable for front to back. Grab a double shielded cable with an thickness of at least 35mm2 .
What kinda intercooler are you planning to go for ? bumper mod ? or small one ?
-
Wicked.... hahaha. you killed one... but i can see it got the standard rust spots
Now i can see the place were the Master brake cylinder is going. It's reinforced. I was in doubt if i need such device like brake master cylinder stopper but no need for nice photos
Still busy with the rear calipers ?

Looool colin... been driving the car most of the time and fixing other peoples cars,
Well MR-2 Text sucks without pictures hahaha.
But it's a daily project car....
Had the turbo attached to the car but not connected to the intake manifold.
The turbo seal wen't bad and it started to throw oil into the exhaust.
So the turbo had to be refurbished... with new upgraded seals and 360 bearing
Luckily i had an old turbine housing laying arround from the earlier turbo i've bought.
Had some hurrie as it is an daily driving car haha.
Cleaned the sleeve real nice. The cause of the turbo was blowing smoke is that there were carbon build up between the gap from the seal..
New bearings insterted.
360 degree bearing but it was an faulty one. They use this one at the workshop, the hole got an wrong offset for my T4 turbo.
Now the turbo is laying around like 2 months needs to be balanced before i will put it back onto the manifold...
Also replaced the idler pulley and tensioner, with the help from an tywrap haha lol. The old ones werent bad at all but changed them anyway, allthough the koyo's were better then the new SKF.
Things to do!!!
Get the turbo balanced and mounted.
Do an new paint job on the Ray's.
Getting an intercooler.
And connect the turbo to the intake.
New radiator and fan needed.

Looking good.
Got allready new pics

You're quite an busy lady i see.
Keep on the good work

Car Looks Really Great

Yep also using jdm supra 2jz-gte pump. I've cut a hole on the same place were the bracket should be.
Jep bearing adaptor. You'll be using for this mod same bearing as for the drum brake. The bigger shell needs to be hold into place because it is not big enough for the disc. Cut a piece of metal with an thickness of 1mm and same height and outer diameter as the shell. Then drop in the shell and add the spacer arround the shell. with an hamer and flat screwdriver. I've been driving arround for 3 years without any problem..
I cannot seem to edit the first page anymore to fix the broken link and pictures. crap
P.S You know you'll have to turn the pistons....., the pistons are being held by a screw inside the caliper turn them against the clock
-
The spoiler looks really good i want one.
As for the paint. i think crater effect. Can be lack on sanding the surface or chemical reaction Is it primer or top coating ?
-
Well how much boost ehm. I shall kick off with 0.5 bar. As the engine allready generates 127HP according TRD group A spec book.
My other engine survived + 95 HP NOS boost that would be 222hp out of een 2E-E engine i asume.. With the 100 HP NOS SHOT it failed. But it was a liquid stroke that tear off my ring island ....So my aim is arround 200 bhp because im sure it will survive. The 2E rods are same spec as 4EFTE
Piston are going to be kept cool by my water injection system with new nozzle.....
My DIY intake was pretty anoying to make with standard tools...
but it's worth it, the funny thing is with the turbo on it it sounds exactly the same as an subaru impreza.... pretty weird as i aint got an boxer motor lol.
-
Again another hollander haha...
Ziet er goed uit.... is dat een civic radiator ?
-
Nice project and Lovely color
And your right, Ram horn manifold will fit, custom is the way to go for most manifolds..
-
The colour is soooo awesome!!!!
Underneath the body too.... now its fun to build and work on the car.
-
Nice project you got there love to read this stuff... Finding new parts aint easy i agree.
Body welding . I've done it too. But now when i look at this project i've forgotten an place hahaha.
I haven't removed the gasoline tank yet. So haven't weld against the tunnel place.
Supra pump is kickass haha ;) good choice fits into many brackets also ep90
As for the pistons in the rear calipers, soak them in wd40 for few days or so.
Disc brake has more control on high speed braking vs drum brakes....
P.S the ep7 rear axle is able to carry disc brake setup with minor adjustment.
If you need ideas look at my thread perhaps it helps.
-
Nice and tidy engine bay...
Still loves the 4age series engine T is the way to go. ;)
AE86

Colin those sort of things you cannot balance it yourself i think. You'll need special machines for it.. It cost me arround +-200 Euro.
Little update.
Relocate adaptorplate for the radiator.
Sync the throttle bodies
Also been working on my brothers Volkswagen R20 HGP Tuned stage 2 400bhp with dsg. Really a god damn ROCKET
More photos will come..
Also 1 side from turbo to intercooler has been connected on my ep71. The otherside will be done tomorrow. How long will it take for the 2E engine will blow up
-
Looks very good stu...
Do you use 12mm flange or thicker ?
Are there any real good production manifolds out there actually ?
-
In the meanwhile making an new house for the chickens haha
Bought Volk/Rays wheels
Refurbished the Release bearing/pressure bearing.
Flushing
Almost as new aluminium gearbox support rubber.
Balanced to zero
My throttle bodies came off an 2013 suzuki gsr750
NEXT ----> Making an route to the throttle bodies from the output turbo, with an water to air intercooler in between
and making an chamber..
-
Colin i hope you can read dutch and metric mm
Outside diameter - minus wall thickness = inner diameter
-
THE proper way to do it!... me a like!

Will come back on that awnser colin. Need to search for it again. as i lost my favourites on google chrome.
Machined the piston ring for same application as intended by hastings.
Did some good research on the piston rings from hastings and nippon piston rings. And had a little talk to my mechanic at the engine shop duo to the balancing on the crankshaft flywheel and pulleys, the guy got some experience in the racing scene. He told me to use the hastings oil control rings because there design is pretty good vs old npr type oil control rings which will consume oil after a while.
There is an overlaps on the 2E-E engine also other models.. At the end of 92 the 2E/2e-e/3e/4e etc had bad oil control rings they consumed oil over time. On models at 93 or later they've fixed this issue but i did not received those oil control rings on my new NPR set. So i had to use the oil control rings from hasting brand, those funny rings are carbon steel which is very nice. second ring is Iron ( crap ) on both brands..... But the top ring / First ring seems to be molybdenum coating on iron rings said the mechanic which is cool because i can use the top ring from the hastings as second piston ring. And the steel treated Gasnitrided ring from npr as top piston ring.
So i've selected 1 piston ring set with the best of both. Fixing the oil control rings into the cylinder was a struggle, checked the website of hastings and it seems to be common problem lol..
Used this piece, bore 73.00 sewer/shitpipe reducer.
Kiekeboo
Piston rings are very important because they are getting ass kicked in the cylinder wall especially during boost and high rpm.
So this is like chapter 1 out of the 5 ?

Too many memories because of my exgirlfriend. And i wanted something new like another project.
The funny thing is she started to cry when i send her the photos when the vorklift took the P7 away.
I still feel dumb i remember that i also left the supra jdm fuel pump in the ep71 lol.
Now i have plenty work on the paseo
Batterie relocated. Also the 10 inch active subwoofer from logitech
Had to replace the air filter but did not have the oem filter. Also added intake temp probe and display.
Tailgate release motor
Wishbone with spherical bearing on the rear looking for an full size saddle clamp but no result yet, and front TRD bushing. To add a more castor ( shopping cart wheel idea ) and sharp steering.
Weird stock mounting plate
Some old skool maintenance, these are from my 1986 P7 and still with no play oem and very very old.
Fixed rear sway bar from whiteline
Removed the sand building op in that area.
Preparing to spray the brackets and calipers for the brake upgrade. These were also on my EP7. With an big 60mm piston
