  1. would be approx as fast in a straight line as a dc2 maybe a teeny tiny bit quicker but round corners the starlets not in the same league.

all comes down to personal preference. hondas a great car but needs to be revved basically to the limiter pretty much to get the real performance

starlet on a 1 bar ct9 setup is gonna have the boosted punchy power delivery and will not require you to sit at 5k+ rpm forever. that wins the day for me everytime but it depends what floats your boat.

  2. right sorry for the delays guys its been fucking hammering down so the little madza has been undercover apart from a very bried forced drive that i was very pissed off about lol. literally the only time its been driven in rain for over a year.

anyway got some more piccies and as you will see, its solid as a rock.

  3. cheers mate i forgot to mention it does have a 50p sized dink on the front. I have no idea where its from but it's happened in my ownership, maybe a stone flew up. it's just below the front light. and a few VERY minor stone chips here and there but that's it regarding bad points. All fluids are going to be topped up and will have new oil put in this week at some point.

  4. Year: 1993
    Model: 1.6 S Special
    Tax: not relevant anymore!
    MOT: 12 months
    Mileage: 111000 kms / approx 65k miles

    Description:

For sale is my 1.6 S Special mk1 eunos. The car was imported in 2005, and is very clean indeed. The S Special models come standard with the extra chassis bracing and LSD.

I bought it standard in 2014 and set about making it my own. I have replaced the suspension, brakes, and wheels/tyres for aftermarket items, and the car now handles and stops fantastically. It never gets driven in bad weather and after passing its MOT with just a ball joint needing replacing, it was stored at the end of the summer last year and has only very recently come back out onto the road again of course passing its MOT this time with no advisories. Not bad for a 23 year old near classic car.

All modifications were carried out by an MX5 specialist near to me and taking into account the car was stored for the best part of a year, the modifications themselves have covered well less than 300 miles as I unfortunately don't drive it very much due to commitments. I have receipts for everything done to the car which I will detail below.

In summary, its fairly strong money I'm asking for this car I admit, but I feel the condition and mileage of the car warrant it. You can buy a high mileage shitter of an mx5 thats dying from corrosion for a grand or so, but you will struggle to find a MK1 better than this anywhere. This car hasn't had a stupid welded diff, been used as a drift toy, ragged around, or ever repaired or welded. All the underbody, arches and the sills are rock solid and have been treated so they will always stay that way. The hood is totally water tight (on the occasion it's on the drive when the heavens decide to open), and there's not a speck of rust on the car.

Money spent on the car detailed below. (all work has seen less than 300 miles driving).

    - BC Racing Coilovers

    - Freakyparts Willwood 4 pot front brakes
    - 1.6 grooved discs and mintex pads on the rear

    - Team Dynamics Pro Race 3 alloys with Yokohama Spec 2 tyres (barely any wear whatsoever, still look new).

    - Full underbody waxoyl treatment (looks like it was done yesterday)

    - Geon Quartz ceramic paint protection coating applied

    Price: £3200

  5. i will try greenlight again, had to be referred to their underwriters department, then they never phoned back which makes me think their customer service aint all that.

lol tax on the bloody things pissed me off aswell 230quid lol. i need a starlet lol i think its actually written in the stars.

i was sitting outside work on my mobile on hold to sky during one of my million calls today and i heard a vroooom tishhh. lol a fucking glanza boosts past. sign?

  6. so im trying to get my eunos back on the road, to either fall back in love with it (its a minter) or sell it for something else.

and insurance is a bloody nightmare. no decent prices, and spent what felt like forever repeating my details to various companies.

then adrian flux. phoned up got a great quote of £294 for my 1.6 eunos with mods. very pleased with that. i ask if the price will be fixed,

they say it will but changed daily so if i ring back tomorrow it will probably change. so i have a think about it, book car for its MOT,

phone back 20 minutes later and its gone up by 40 quid. pissed off lol.

have to put the car back on the road either way whether i sell or not but didnt wanna pay over the odds for insurance.

not impressed with sky at all, quoted me nearly 500quid when im 29 with 9 years ncb and clean license on a stock engined 1.6 eunos.

and wont move, despite the fact that their renewal letter boasts about if you find a cheaper like for like quote (ive got several) they will match it + £20 on top. bullshit.
