no i agree mate start cheap. but why would the leak down test show a leak that we could hear in cyl 4 and feel it comming thru another cylinder and we then turn the crank and it doesnt do it again just been quoted £480 inc vat for all new pistons full gasgket kit and rings..
-
garage guy has told me its due to piston 4 and nothing i do externally will stop that now.. checked the timing and it was spot on, check with a camera for piston head damage but looked ok..
-
ok i kinda understand.. but the smoke coming out is bluish so does that not mean burning oil ? i dont see how it can have too much crank case pressure just because one isnt going to the inlet manifold though, all that does is take in air so what difference would having a pipe from the over to the inlet do?

the filter is oily, not been cleaned in months tbh
-
ok i see what your saying but surely a fault would have shown before say 300 miles have been covered since i change the setup. its just a metal catch can with 2 inlets or oulets both the same basically and a breather on the top, so your saying one pipe from the cover to the catch can and the other outlet on the cover should be going to the inlet manifold the way it was before?
-
i done a compression test twice now from 2 different places and they said it was spot on at 150 psi across all 4, so how is that possible if on a leak down test it showed a leak.. the breather is oily and dirty but i dont suppose that would effect the colour of the smoke as its clearly coming out
-
the catch can has a breather on it and two inlet pipes, so both outlet pipes on the cover are going to the catch can and the inlet manifold pipe is now blocked off.. does that make any more sense ?
-
my rocker cover has both pipes going to the catch can and the inlet manifold pipe is blocked off this was only done in the last month, before i only had a breather on the left and a pipe going from the cover to the inlet mani. i changed the oil and filter about 2 months ago using shell stuff i usually use, recently had the fuel filter changed and fueling checked but it was running lean before i done that as the fuel pump was dying and i didnt know, it was only when it was on the dyno we seen it was up at 15 afr around 4k rpm, so fuelling is now spot on..
-
ok so ive been having some running issues with it feeling more flat than normal, took it to a local dyno garage and got it inspected.; while doing a leak down test cyl 4 was passing some air but all the rest are tight, we rotated the engine and it held pressure solid after that.. so on the dyno not pushing hard, revs held at 2500rpm and raising boost pressure we start to see blue smoke comming from the catch can but no noticeable smoke from the exhaust. im told its either piston rings or head gasket but needs opened up to find out for sure. so, is the smoke diagnostic correct?
-
well it looks like it might be the piston rings, put it on the dyno and their is some blue smoke comming from the catch can when on boost and having pressure.

sorry about the video angle. whats your thoughts? http://vid4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/twaiter/VIDEO0069_zpsctirnzg2.mp4

hks actuator seems fine, found a tear in a boost pipe, replaced it, boost is faster spooling but still feels flat as shit. so if its not the boost controller or actuator because boost is reaching 1Bar, and its not the air filter as its new, and its not a leak, with no faults showing on the diagnostics wtf is it? does any one know if their was a fault would it still show even though the dastek unit is fitted? not sure where else to go with it
-
really getting to the end of my tether with ti! i'll let u know
-
Ill see if I can do that , good plan
-
its a HKS adjustable . ive taken the mbc off and checked it, all seems fine.
-
but even though when it appears full boost is on the bost isnt actually their.. would that still be related to the actuator?
-
is it possible it could be the actuator causing the issue?
-
the actuator was giving boost slower than the mbc on the rollers so we fitted the mbc and it made a big difference
-
hi mate ive actually got the same problem.. ive got a speed vision unit running a hks actuator and a mbc at 1bar.. let me know if u fix it pal

http://vid4.photobucket.com/albums/y145/twaiter/2014-09-06122622_zpsecd222e9.mp4 look at the video link, bare in mind this is a hybrid with dastek etc and it picks up far to slowly
-
ok so done a dignostics and nothing came back as faulty.. changed the airfilter and still no better, checked the turbo and the blades look fine, their is some side to side but minimal in and out and still no smoke etc.. if im driving in 2nd and the rpm is about 1.5lk and i floor it im not on full boost until just after 3k rpm and it doesnt feel like it picks up propper until around 4k rpm. the garage done a compression check, leak test and smoke test with no results.. disconnected the battery for half hour also with no results. any other thoughts? im still leaning towards either the

i have a dastek unit though so will diagnostics still work? thank matey

SpeedVision CT9 Hybrid (BRAND NEW) £260!!!

im very tempted due to me thinking mine has just died! is this gen1 or gen 2 -
ok so i put it into the garage to get it checked and they said they cant find anything wrong with it at all. compression is fine, leak test came back with nothing, cmoke test came back with nothing. he said it feels like its struggling in higher gears. so ive booked it into a local dyno to get the fueling checked again make sure its not over fuelling or under.. any other thoughts? could the turbo be fucked even though its going to 1 Bar and no smoke etc?
