i guess that's a possibility.....i dont know too much about the dastek chip (except its piggy back)......but can the dastek chip fit into the existing standard ecu housing?.........i also assume it has to have in some kind of eprom......but i dont think he will open it ...lol

yo ecksjay..dont quote me on this...as i cant verify it.....but a buddy of mine has a standard ecu which was "supposedly" done by some place in california a while back........its not the usual JAM, Blitz, MINES.........but it does have all the restrictions removed (fuel, boost, rev) and appears to have a much improved fuel/ignition curve
i guess we could take it out and look at it........but i dont think he will be very interested in opening the cover to see if it has an "additional" board attached or otherwise.........all i can say is that's he's happy with it and it runs 1 bar nicely.....even heard it can run more

never knew that compression could be around 180psi on some starlets......always heard the usual 150 - 170 psi range
mine is around 170psi.........i think those that put the 4efte pistons in the 5efhe, usually get about 180-185psi compression
the general consesus, as pb stated is 10% variance between cylinders.....but mechanics tend to use the 5% (racers) to 15% rule
yeah,,,,the dry and wet compression test wil show up any faults

have you reconnected the speedo??....this seems to be your problem....if you have not.....then you may looking for a problem that is not there
reconnect it first....the ECU may be looking for a reading from it
have you tried the diagnostic??........its very simple and can save you time and money....

1st try and reconnect your speedo cable.....it it manual or automatic?? dont know if it could have anything to do with the speed sensor
do a diagnostic reading.....to get the code (bridge te1 and e1)
for idle problems.....if the baove reveals nothing :
check for vacume leaks
check idle control
check timing
check automatic choke
sounds like something went amist somewhere when you disconnected to speed cable

well in all honesty,,,,all intercoolers are not the same........some are more efficient and effective at what they do...........having said that, a number of OEM intercooler have been used by ep82/91.....VR4, BMW, EVO, GTIR, Starion (very good size for the starlet/glanza), etc
i would say the ideal size should be around 24"*8"*2.5" and these are overall dimensions...anything bigger and some cutting may have to be done........the starion has an intercooler with approximately these measurements and flows well....from what i've heard

thanks you a million lobotomy.....i tried a search, but my computer was taking forever to load any web pages and i was only able to find the gold one....i think i will be going with the black spokes and silver lip....though they ALL look really good

- white
- black
- silver
- black (spokes) with silver lip only --- this 1 i'm really thinking about
would be nice to see what they would look like on my ep91.....but dont have any pics of it
