**Update** Well the heart of the car is out now, i decided to paint the inlet mani and fuel rail, the starter motor has been cleaned up. Idropped the engine, gearbox & shafts out all together, dropped it down on the jack and dragged the fucker out lol, so i put the wheels back on and parked her up. Monday im stripping the gearbox, shafts apart, take the head off and check for damage. now i need to decide which pistons to go for, dont want to spend alot really lol.

yeah i saw that, i believe it was Dave from TMD that posted it. Well im about to take the engine out in the next few minutes, woohoo.. I painted the inlet mani, rocker cover and fuel rail in matt black (going for the subtle look), when i was taking the fuel rail apart and it was stripped, i found a small spring on the floor???? has that come out of the fuel rail from somewere?? Il post a load of photos up later on tonight, will need to get an engine stand for the rebuild aswell. cheers

Not at all, Castrol is the leading brand on the market, Castrol is used by loads of motorsport/performance engines, they are a very good oil company, however i just prefer shell and Mobil 1.

the test was done on two VW passats. the 4EFTE was just an example lol Shell did the origional tests.

yeah those videos made me think about it alot, so im doing it myself. the torque settings are on the videos so should be ok....... i think lol cheers dude

in my job we research products for cars etc, and oil was one of them, when you compare two of the exact same engins say 4EFTE, run them both on 10/40 for say 80k-100k miles, but one has Castrol and the other has Shell in it, when you take the engines apart you will find that Shell leaves and protects the inside of the engine and parts and keeps it all very clean, but the one with Castrol leaves the insides gunked up and the oil has not protected as it should. However Castrol is still a very good oil, but i will only use Shell or Mobil. The above facts shouldnt put you off from buying Castrol as it is just a comparison test that was done. It isnt that bad as its used in motorsport cars as well..

Skimmed, ported,mirror polished and gas flowed, then getting uprated valves,springs,lifters with a set of piper cams. Im not doing it to the 4E because il try it without, and see how i get on.

I am mate yeah, im going to experiment and see what figure i get out of a TD05 on the 4e, if its not enough then the 5E is going in.. The had has been sent off for the 5E for some serious work on it. if you need a hand Micky then let me know dude. engine will be coming out tomorrow all being well. ;)

**update** well the engine and box are nearly ready to come out, just needs the shafts removing and its ready, i cable tied the cables to the fire wall for more space and removed the starter motor, took the exhaust system off and unplugged everything.. Once its out all the piping is getting replaced with new ones, just cant wait to start cleaning it all. im going to drop them engine through the bottom rather than crane it upwards..
