Ok good to hear it made a difference! We're moving to a better garage in june with my friends and we're gonna have a hoist there so going to install the alk then and check the alignment afterwards that so that I won't destroy my new front tires right away.
I was thinking to have an rear anti roll bar and a panhard rod at the same time. I might be dropping the back a tiny bit more and I want to be sure it doesn't catch the arches as they're still perfect. How much camber you're planning to use? If I recall right I have 0,8 degrees at the moment and was thinking to add it probably to 1°.
And yeah thanks, I love the splitter too and the fact that this is in fact something new in starlet scene. Yeah it's a EK civic one. It's not perfect yet as I was in a hurry when installing it. I have to make the ends sit better and plasti dip it white so it would stand up more than it does in black.

Thanks Rich! Can't wait to get my whiteline anti lift kit fitted. The LSD made the handling so much better already. It must be phenomenal ahter the alk ;D Rear anti roll bar would propably be the next upgrade to handling.

Got my 14x6 wheels from powder coaters yesterday. These are for my NA winter car and they're powder coated gunmetal! Came out pretty well I think.

I'm still interested in that mani. Please PM me your price.

Ok I guess it's time to update something again. Pic heavy set coming up!The V was more or less in bits this winter and finally got something done, that wasn't the case last winter. With alot of help from friends we got the gearbox out.The hole it leftThe box was quite dirty inside, I doubt it hasn't seen oil change in a while....After that we got the box open and in goes the mighty TRD LSDCleaned the box a bit from inside and started to put it back together...There it is now! See thru view from drive shaft hole. Then I got some stuff from Idrees.Replaced the crankshaft seal while the flywheel was of. Then in goes the new Exedy clutch paired with machined OEM flywheel,Next was upgrading the rear gearbox mount to powerflex one. Also changed the gearbox oil plugs to toyota magnetic ones and put some Redline MT-90 in.MT-90 seems to be great oil with mechanical LSD, as it only crunches a bit when the oil is cold. After warming up you can barely feel the LSD is in, unless you give it some more gas ;D Awesome mod and makes the car feel so much faster and stable! Also changed the clutch line to HEL and put in solid bushes for gear link cables.Clutch is nice and light and bites well now! Gear shfter is relly solid too, happy with it!Next I cleaned up the front coilies, still in mint condition with no leaks. Desided not to lower it more as the coilie is almost touching cv boot....Then started the thing up and checked the compression. The results were:1: 10 bar2: 10 bar3: 10,5 bar4: 10,5 barSeems all good to me!After that changed all the brake pads to EBC. Red stuff on front and Ultimax at back. Then time to take car out!Ordered a front lip as I've been wanting one for so long but wanted to do something different for a while after seeing all the laguna lips and the normal after market ones for glanza...Sat really well tbh, jsut had to shorten it a bit from the ends! Here it is as it stands now. Have to finish the lip at some point and paint it white.

PMd you mate already. Money waiting!

Good to hear about the plans, I have loads of plans for my glanza too and a few for the NA too. Gonna update my thread soon as I finally got something done to the V.
That JAM kit really is low, that's propably the only reason why I'm not gettin that JAM front lip...it looks mad though.
I might be getting the same size tires then, I kinda like it a bit beefy and 195 on 6J rim does it. Thanks for the info. Whats the offset on them Advans without spacers?
-
This keeps getting better and better! So awesome!
What are the specs on your Advans and tires? I've got 14x6 ET38 coming for my NA winter car and some lowering springs. I have to get some new summer tires for it some time later and your wheels look so good!

I sent an email to RW developments! Thanks!
Rob I know that there is, but I just installed a TRD LSD into my box and later found out that I forgot to put the original (and weak) magnet back in. So definetelly wouldn't hurt to get magnetic plugs...
-
I want to get magnetic plug for my glanza gearbox. Does anyone know where to get one that would fit?
I was thinking of getting one for the drain hole and propagly one for the oil level hole too if theyre not too expensive.
-
The correct settings are 124 Nm or 91 lbft. Called Toyota info and got some scanned PDFs to my email.
Also the correct way to install the LSD on the ring gear is to first heat the ring gear up in boiling water (yes, this is in official toyota documentation ).
-
Redline importer here in Finland told me MT-90 should do the job. I'll propably try that.

I'm putting my LSD on next weekend and need some oil apparently.
TRD website tells this:
FF vehicles......L.S.D.Oil Grade:GL-3~GL-5 Viscosity:75W-90(* L.S.D. compatible Oil only)
Which oils have you guys used with your LSDs and has there been cluncking noises etc? I've read that with correct oil the TRD LSD should be quite ok and not too harsh.
-
Ok, thanks Luke! Were they coilovers or just springs?
I want a set of springs which are not too hard and I'd rather want it to be a bit lower at front too. I've been trying to google these two sets but not much experiences on these on starlets....
-
Has anyone had FK or Vogtland springs on their cars? Are they any good? Thinking of getting a set for my NA.
-
Haha, he was cool as ice and told it had been working fine ever since it was built. Told he was a bit confused and promised to check the cylinder 2 later and get back with the results...
Honestly, my engine had (has) the same issue on cylinder 2 and still the engine seems to work just fine...
-
-
The engine had low compression on cylinder no. 2 so not sure what to do now as it would cost a big pile of money to buy it first and propably some more to fix it.
Compression test results were around
1: 145
2: 90
3: 145
4: 145
The car had been standing in a parking hall all winter since august. It had been left there standing as the manifold had cracked from two places.
We ran the engine warm before doing the test. We didn't put any oil in to the cylinder and I don't think it was WOT when cranking.
Any thoughts?

Toyota bearings in there.
-
Yeah, he has receipts. It has cruise head gasket, JE pistons, speedvision valve springs, stainless valves etc. Also externally gated greddy TD05g16 turbo with a cracked manifold. The head has been machined, just not sure what has been done. Skimmed at least that I know.
-
Ok thanks, good to hear.
I think the engine has been built between 2008-2009. The owner built it himself, so I guess it has been serviced and maintained well.
Going to see it today. Taking my compression tester and stethoscope with me to be sure it runs fine.
Any last minute tips what to check?

I have an opportunity to get a forged 4E-FTE that has been run 50 000 kms. It's been dynoed over 340 hp with td05 turbo.
Is 50k kms alot to a forged engine that powerfull and should I be expecting some major problems with that engine in the near future? From what I heard, it's been mainly in road use. No track days or dragging.

Thanks Stu, maybe I'll try that. :
