    hi mate its me whos breaking the car. "4efte head, 70k and the 5efe bottom end 60k" this is how you make a 5efte there is no such thing as standard and the numbers are the millage. yeh it will drop straight in but youll need to use your manual gearbox mate. im only in carnoustie so its not far to get it transported bud.

  4. i really need some help as im starting to get really annoyed heres the story. my turbo decided to go, replaced that no big deal, big ends went so i changed to to find my oil pump was going and 25 miles down the road knock knock knock. so i start sorcing some engines. decided to go for a 5efte instead. got the 5efe, swapped the heads and used a thicker headgasket to drop the compression, got to start it and click, wouldnt start. there was something up with the gearbox and was stopping the engine turning ( its an auto by the way) so i dropped the whole lot out to take the box off to find

  7. well i need some help here. i have not long bought my glanza, but since having it i have had a fair few problems. engines and turbos going but a well. i have recently fited a 5efte and i need a new mani as the standard one is restrictive, what you think would be best for me? heres the spec of the car. budgets about 300 5efte hdi fmic decat 2.5inch straight threw boost gauge air filter relocation. cheers aidan
  8. the starter motor is turning and so is the engine just not firing up. it has fuel and spark. cheers
  9. im using the 4efte one redrilled. it has spark and fuel. could the ignition timing be out and stop it starting? also what about the tps could this stop it from starting if its out? cheers
  10. took the box off and put the torque convertor in the box and fitted it back together. it now turns over but wont start. it started the first time i tried it but i hasnt started since. any clues? cheers

  13. ive done a 5efte swap and where the oil filter goes is slightly different. i have used my 4efte sump so i have that oil line fine. but see the little metal oil line that also connects onto the bottom of the turbo were does the other end of that go? it would normally go to the bit beside the oil filter on the 4efte but thats not there on the 5efe so what do i have to do? cheers
  14. well cause i couldnt turn the crank to lossen the bolts on the torque convertor and you can move the gearbox over enough i had to drop the engine aswell agian . twice in two days. toke the gearbox of and found the crank turned fine. also found that the block is cracked at eh back . think i hadnt lined the spline up proberly on the gearbox and when i pulled the bolts threw onto the block i have cracked it. nightmare! so its a crankout job and out the crank back into my old 4efte block. hopefully have it running by the weekend.
  15. heres the questions i need anwsered i know it cant be earths because i cant turn t over by hand at the crank something is stopping it. 1) is there any sensors that could stop the crank being turned if they are not connected? 2) could it be the auto box cause its onto a manual block. the engine turned over fine before i put the box on and the only time i tried turning it over afer that was when it was in the car . i really think its something to do with the box but i dont want to go and have to take it out agian! cheers
  16. why wouldnt it turn over by hand if it wasnt earther properly? its just a standard 5efe block with a thicker headgasket and the 4efte head. it turned over fine before i put it in this was with the gearbox off so im thinking its something to do with the gearbox . i just hope its something simple.
  17. ive looked over it and ill give that a shot tommorow but mines is a auto and im sure all the plugs are plugged in. my strater was giving a clicking noise and geo said his wasnt. hopefully this is the problem but surely it wouldnt stop it being turned over at the crank. heres what geo found to be wrong with his " Ive used an Auto loom in my manual conversion and what you are getting is exactly what i got before I bridged the selector loom that would usually go into the auto box.   18. the wire on the starter is fine and its all earthed up. the problem is it wont even turn over by hand at the crank.
  19. hi, i have just got a 5efe and used my 4efte head on the block as you do. i got it sitting in and i wired everything up, went to start it and the starter clicked, thought no battery so i jumped it and it still done the same. thought the starter teeth maybe wernt lined up on the flywheel so i took the starter of and tried turning the engine over at the crank but it wouldnt budge. at this point it got a bit worried. i checked the timing again and that was all good. im now thinking its something to do with the gearbox as i should have mentioned its a auto. is there anything that i should have swa

    well its finally on the road today and im away to fit the spoiler but i think that will be it for just now. next will be the engine but just been paid off so on hold for a bit.
