  1. ^^^^can't say I would be of the same opinion but likely had different experience with them.

I insured my conversion with Flux, absolute gift. Phoned them up, explained the conversion, 25% load on existing policy, done. That was with a fair few of the mods declared, and they gave substantial deductions for both many years NCB and IAM license.

That said, I never had to claim from them (thankfully) so can't speak to that.

  2. Nice warm, dry evening last night and the plates and bulbs arrived so set about some fettling:

Compared to OEM - not as white as LEDs obviously but Alfas dont take LEDs well (without some resistor wiring etc) but they are much brighter - OEM on the left, Philips on the right:

And all fitted up - yes the car is filthy I know, but I did detar and wax behind the rear plate before refitting!

  3. Still waiting on a bunch of bulbs and some fresh plates arriving today, but over the weekend got some silvatec front indicator bulbs to do away with the fried egg look!

    When compared to the OEMs:

And with the current side light bulb, believe it or not this whole unit looked yellow with the previous indicator bulb:

  4. Update

Managed a handy trade for a fresh bonnet yesterday. My own is a little worse for wear as the result of some persuasion required to make the original FMIC pipework fit and looks terrible when opening the bonnet, so been on the hunt for something fresh for a couple of years now. Big thanks to TTE_Starlet (Ryan) for sorting me out with this, and also for providing me with a new spare wheel mount so I can get a space saver back into the car (just needs welded in).

    Before a quick scrub:

    And after:

Yes, its from an EP95 that Ryan is in the process of tinkering with:

Another piece of the puzzle sorted!

  5. Wow, I haven't bothered to update this since I bought the car....that would be because I haven't done anything with it, bar services and driving her daily. To date the car has been faultless bar a lambda sensor that was resolved under warranty. Daily slogs have taken their toll on the paint and especially the condition of the brake calipers sadly, but, its a daily driver hauler not a show car, and those are all things that can be restored via various services available (refurb and replace services on eBay, etc).

Work still continues at a (relatively) good pace on sorting out the EP, however, the time has come to breath a little fresh air into the daily, nothing major, just some small touches to make it a cool dad's car, given the imminent arrival of a little Badger (codename: Mushroom....get it????).

So, started with cleaning up the bulbs last weekend with some Ring Xenon 130% H7s in both the dipped and high beams. Fitted some LED sides too, then discovered that I had forgotten that LEDs aren't compatible with Alfas without resistors, so I'm awaiting the arrival of some clean white/blue 501 bulbs and silvatec indicators to clean up the front, puddle lights and rear number plate lights.

I also plan to fit Osram Fogbreakers in yellow (for totes Euro looks y0) in the front fogs.

Some pressed metal number plates are on order, and after that, going to look at replacing the emblems on the car as salt and water and stones have taken their toll on them....might change them up for some black and silver Alfa emblems. Couple of small interior trim pieces to source that have always been missing (small rubber mats from inside door handles), and perhaps a K&N filter to help it breath a bit better will be on the cards.

Nothing major, just some tidy ups and attention.

    Bulbs so far:

Before - blown dipped beam bulb and stock bulbs all round:

Ring's in the dipped and highs and LEDs in the sides (coming out) and still stock fogs:

  6. Not sure of the price difference between just reconditioning your CT9 and hybridising it...

...however, what I will say is this...

I run a K1. Much to the contrary of internet rubbish, its not a hybrid. HOWEVER, what I can tell you is that it is hilarious craic. Zero lag to speak of, power delivery is instant and it pulls all the way through the rev range.

If a hybrid CT9 behaves somewhere close to this, then my view is, smiles per mile will be HIGH!

As for the hot air concern mentioned above....again, my K1 was generating alot of heat in the engine bay. So to combat this, we fitted a Civic radiator and slimline fan, and the car already ran bonnet spacers. Still generates heat of course, but now there is some more open space in there as the stock radiator isn't hogging up a bunch of room.

£350 might be alot, I don't know, but it bolts straight on, no need for new manifolds etc, can run it around or just shy of a bar and have alot of fun. I run mine at ~0.95 bar and have zero complaints.

    Hopefully that will have helped,

    Phil.

  7. Yes bud.

After spending the money for brand new coils, I dont want to just let them rot under the car. So they will be getting a heavy coating of marine grease before fitting, as well as these covers applied over the top of them. They wont pass MOT as the MOT man likes to see the shock etc, but they're easily fitted and removed and will stop stones etc from pinging up and chipping the springs/shock etc so hopefully help to preserve the life of them for as long as possible.

Second set and marine grease ordered.

    Phil.

  8. Tarmac will certainly be a foreign concept to her bud! The hard part will be behaving myself taking it up the road as I really, really dont want to attract any undue attention.

Hoping the socks show up today, ensure they're the right size, then order a second set!

    Phil.

  9. Update

New number plates fitted at the weekend, cleaned up versions with no websites or anything on them. First time there has been a front plate on her in a few years.

Coilover socks ordered - apparently I don't know the difference between 4 coilovers and a "pair" of socks though....idiot...so need to order another pair. Feel free to mock, I deserve it. After that, I plan to order a charcoal dash mat to tidy up the gauge installation on the dash (cover holes, etc).

On another note, for several reasons the car needs to be temporarily rehomed, meaning it will actually see tarmac use in the coming weeks for a brief 30 minutes.

    Phil.

  10. I have no earthly idea what you are talking about.

I never stated you had to explain anything, I stated I'd be curious to know more. It's known as constructive feedback.

Perhaps u would care to share with me the link in question and then perhaps i would know what you're referring to. Doesn't seem "weird" at all but then that's 'opinions' for u. No reason to be arsey as my request was perfectly neutral and unconfrontational, despite the fact I know the person this particular thread was started about.

I'm on the site a lot but I can't and don't see everything.

    Phil.

  11. No wonder this place is going to shit.

As a member of the admin, I'd be interested to know more about why you feel this way, beyond the fact we had a bad run of scammers for a while, which we can do sweet fanny Adams about until after the fact.

    Phil.

  12. Ah got ya, sorry I hadnt had my coffee(s) when i posted that response.

Expansion tank, yes, so what we've done with mine is get a Glanza one that as you say, has a metal L-shaped bracket on the rear of it.

Originally it was bush-mechanic'd in with a cable tie, however Rob Bower took great offense to that, so using the holes already in the flat/horizontal piece of the bracket already attached to the bottle, it was screwed down into the metal work of the engine bay. It took some drilling/tapping before hand which claimed the life of a drill bit, but its now securely in there!

Hope thats a bit clearer for you bud!

    Phil.

  13. Morning Jase,

Standard civic half rad from eBay (ID-Workz sells them too).

The bottom of the radiator sits (literally sits) on the original OEM radiator bracket, and I think we've a rubber bung lodged onto that OEM bracket just to hold the half rad a bit better.

The top is held on with a custom S-shape bracket that I had an engineer in my work make for me in the workshop. Think my instagram has a picture of the CAD drawing with all the measurements (#GaragEP).

The reason mine is on like this and not using a JD Tuning or ID Workz mounting kit is that my lower cross member has bolts snapped off where the bottom mounting bracket would mount to.

    Cheers,

    Phil.
