  1. if you throttle bodied it and kept the turbo it would be epic
  2. new plugs fitted and not a blind bit of difference, stalled twice at junctions on way back and still a miss-fire/hesitation at 2-3k rpm after changing them
  3. it does it from cold, will try throwing a set of spark plugs at it, the car has uprated ht leads fitted so i asume there ok.
  4. hey guys my starlet is massively poorly, below 2k rpm its fine, 2-4k rpm it missfires, dies and bumps itself going again 4k+ it fine again sometimes when sat at traffic lights/junctions it just dies for no reason at all has anyone had this happen to them? any idea's of what could be causing it would help greatly cheers rob
  5. re-building an engine is a piece of piss, just get all the settings/torques and clearances and stick to them , when re-building an engine make sure the work area and parts are as clean as an opperating theater!

    Idle issues :(

hi guys and girls, just done the headgasket on the EP82 gt and it runs great and holding boost and water temp is great but i have a idleing issues, idle is at 1k rpm so a little high when pulling up to junctions or stopping the car sometimes idle's fine but sometimes the rev's drop and the engine either stalls or jumps to 1500 rpm then back to normal. ive looked at a mates starlet and all vacuum pipes are goood and in the correct place, is there an idle control valve that might be blocked/needs cleaning thanks Rob

as tittle says ive removed my cylinder head and looking to fit it tomorrow night and wondering do i need new head bolts or can i re-use stock ones? if so where can i get some at a good price? do i need to go to toyota stealer?
  21. is 700kg's possible for a starlet, if so im gonna start ripping everything out of mine
  22. who did the engine work mate as it sounds like it could be build related? have you got a way of checking blow-by? excessive exhast smoke could be because of high blow-by! are you running a crankcase breather/oil catch tank or filter on the crank case, if that is blocked it will cause blow by.
  23. thanks ep_brad thats a great link, mrkd5916 - thanks but ive just paid for one, cheers for the info guys, can anyone shed more light or show me pics on the "special tool" please as i dont realy wanna pay out for something im gonna use once
  24. head will be checked on a flat table and skimmed if needed, is the *special tool* just a long torx socket ? marc think turning the boost up made the old one fail, nice easy fix tho so not to bad.
