  1. No way max power in march now redline :)

seriously Max Power ???? that died in the late 90's lol, was a shame i loved that magazine long time ago but they ruined it.

but i am shocked to hear about redline going under B), that was and still is a decent magazine.

  2. Sorry to hear about the car bud, my mate was doing the same course you in uni in swansea and was telling me about your car a few weeks back. Ive only now just had a look at your build thread. What a shame its given up the get go.

I'll give ya a word of warning, dont bother replacing the rings of one piston, get them all done. Afterall you did say urself that you hadent bothered to check the piston to wall clearance and neither had you checked the end gaps, think about it the same thing could happen to the other 3 cylinders. You cant just throw things together you have to check things!

X2 would redo the rings and gap them as that is more than likely the problem.

dont give up i've still not got to enjoy the fruits of my labour yet and just wanted to give up so many times but i'm stubborn lol.

  3. Dont want to shit on your parade mate as honestly it is a fucking cracking idea and i'd love to get in about the ramps and booth BUT.

This is not new this has been tried before thats what halfords was meant to be about most halfords (old ones) have garages at them that you were supposed to be able to book them out and use the likes of the ramps and stuff to work on your own car and hire the use of the tools but fell through due to health and safety and insurance reasons.

so get your mate to fully check that out first and if it is all ok then he's onto a winner as if i wasn't f'ing off i would defo be interested.

  4. killin, perthsire.i work in callander.excellent road the a85/a84,great fun especially for bikes.i sold my bike after i crashed it at knockhill and decided to take a few years off from them and decided i wanted a nice fast car.i thought the starlet would be an ideal start.

Excellent road that had a blast on that road last summer running the gt in :), welcome mate

  5. Just for the record (as i started this thread) i was a member of Sax-p before due to me previously having a saxo. I didn't go on there and start mouthing off and giving this forum a bad name. To the couple of lads who made accounts and started f-ing and blinding your really not doing any of us a favour! Also gives me a bad name on that forum becasue i'll be grouped as a 'starlet owning, saxo hating cunt'. Or something along those lines

yes mate had a read of it and you handled yourself well on there , can't say the same for the twat or twats that piped in and started talking crap and if yous are on here make yourselves known so phil or a mod can use the ban button :).

  6. With Age comes experience eh chaps.

A VTS is a very capable car in the right hands, sure its N/A so tuning is restricted, but as chassis's go, the French make some of THE best FWD hot hatches going. No one on here can deny that, its in their heritage, anyone wants to come at with an argument against it will be met by "1.9 205 GTi".

The starlet is a great little, affordable, reliable hot hatch which out the box is nippy, but can get 160-180hp with some simple mods, meaning in a straight line it'll ride the arse of a french hot hatch...the chassis however falls down, stock for stock, with he same competent driver, my money is on a VTS round a track.

When the younger guys move on in the car world, see the bigger picture, you'll look back on this thread they'll see how childish both parties are.

Yes agree let them talk their shite, but agree with phil dont be bringing the name of this club into it over there.

disagree on the 1.9 gti though the 1.6 205 gti is actually faster on track

  7. I'm afraid that is abit incorrect.

Starting from the timing belt side:

    Intake caps: I2, I3, I4,I5

    Exaust caps: E2,E3,E4,E5

There is no 1. Make sure the arrows are facing towards the timing belt.

you are correct to a degree yes the caps are

    inlet - I2, I3, I4

    Exhaust - E2, E3, E4

    but there is a E1 and I2

E1 - is under the cam gear (timing belt gear)

I1 - is the other one left (timing side as dave pointed out)

  8. ahh i got all ma stuff ready to go hoping it will all go smooth lol pretty sure he said this is his first starlet

Well mine would've been his first then lol, i also had to buy a 3 bar pressure sensor aswell as i had a map sensor for a st205 gt4 i was wanting to use (save money) but he wasn't sure if he could configure it so i just bought one let the man do it how he knows best.

  9. sucks for u mate mines going up to chris at gi motorsport on thursday n am worried ill have an issue with mine as its a 3hour drive just to get there what probs u had with with it getting maped before?

Ah so your the guy chris is mapping on thursday he was telling me he had a starlet to map on thursday.

was nothing to do with chris, was a family issue my dad was in hospital and as a result i never got the time to get the car ready for mapping and with the snow i never got working on the car today :D just need to get the radiator and intercooler back in and front bumper on is all and fit my short shifter.

  10. Thats shit mate i'm in the same boat was supposed to get the gt mapped on friday but with family issues and not getting the car finished as a consequence.

so chris on the emange forum (GI Imports) is doing it this friday but with the snow conditions as they are its touch and go so hopefully it fucks off in time :D

  11. Been waiting on this game for awhile now read an article awhile ago in x360 mag about (work in a petrol station so scan the mags :p:D) it and it looks awesome.

supposedly there is a 15 min video at the start of how nasty the north koreans are in there take over of america in it and how it builds up to you as the player, bring it on :D.

Anyone ever seen the film red dawn on which its loosely based ?, well the writer of that film wrote the game aswell, i remember parts of it remember its patrick swayze in it and its the russians that had taken over america and not the north koreans.

  12. Lol when that Mani was bought It was a little project my thinking then was I would cut out the top ofthe autobahn and fit my ext gate which I did and relieve the Mani of the pressure was sound thinking but once the Mani was on it started blowing so I said f it and went the zisco route which I regret wish I just went straight td04 but oh well lol

Cheers rob as for pics it's getting mapped very very soon so once that is done my mate an exceptional photographer is doing a photoshoot of it and I have just acquired a new set of alloys to go on it they are in good condition just need a repaint so pics soon :)

  13. Slowest engine build in the history of starlets !

Not gonna argue on that one lol been busy with college and uni and shit believe me i have had my slack of this but being a student and funds have what has been the case lol, but in fairness it has been on the road and ran in done 4000 miles since the rebuild and as said the reason the engine is out this time is my own fault :)

cheers sparky i wasn't even gonna bother painting it was just gonna pull it apart and clean it and get it back together but i'm glad i have done it looks mint ;)

  14. Been a long long time since i have added anything to this so bout time first up engine been in for ages ran in, i have it back out again little issue that was my fault with mixing up the vac pipes on the throttle body so engine had to come out and cleaned up and now back together all painted ready to go back in :)B).

some of the changes from the last time are

Wepr Ramhorn TD04 mani (cant rate this mani highly enough workmanship and ease of fitment outstanding, far superior to zisco's)

    Td04l

    Wepr Decat

    Turbosmart 38mm ext gate

    Turbosmart Bov

    Apexi Avcr EBC

Innovate LC-1 Wideband controller with DB gauge

so here is some pics of the engine out and apart and cleaned up :D
