Snapped cam bolt

Anyone any ideas on extracting a snapped cam cap bolt? Torquing them back down earlier and inlet side bolt snapped when tightening !

Those snap very easy, just 15Nm is max and have broken those often under that. Use some furtinure bolt or similar if can´t find proper bolt, works, not so much stress...

if your lucky use a 2mm drill bit and tap is a very small screwdriver in the hole for grip and try loosening

if not it will he helicoil jobby

I have screw extractors here I'm gonna try drill a small hole and extract the broken bolt! Hopefully it won't be too hard to get out any idea how I can stop metal filings getting into the head from drilling

Keep a magnet close by.

One mine broke and I was lucky enough to turn the bolt wit a small flat head and it came out handy

Could try putting a groove in it and using a flat head screwdriver?

Is there any way of getting crank pulley cover off without removing the pulley? I haven't got a crank pulley remover handy

Got it sorted crank and cams all timed up now just to piece it back together and start her up see how it goes
