interloper393
Hi guys is there much of a feel differance and ease of turning between these 2 racks? I drove in for 2 weeks with no belt and wasn't impressed enough to loop the system and keep it.Cheers
richardc9052
Non power steering has an extra full turn from lock to lock. Makes steering much easier than a PS rack looped
5e colin
as richard says using a powersteering rack without the pump is horrid it has deadspots i preffer a genuine non power steering rack feels very nice its only when standing still and want to turn the wheel its a tat hard , if you have any meat on your arms its no biggy :)
Sheehy StarletGT
Rather my non ps ep80 than my ps ep82, more lock in the non ps rack, makes parking a one effort attempt
richardc9052
I'm the same. Trying to find a non PS rack so swap into my 82 as I find the PS way too light and there's very little feedback.. Makes me miss my turbo ep80 lol
MR-2
If I can swap EP91 steering rack to my EP70, maybe EP70/91 fits to EP82 Don't care different part numbers, just take parts to hand and try, maybe outer rods are longer, but man can use old ones etc. Middle sector is propably same as in Tercel, Corolla etc... MR-2
EP91 non PS steering under plastic.
MR-2
Different number, won't fit, lets try, yes it's bolt on
richardc9052
So the uj bolted straight on and you where able to keep the ep70 column? If so, you just helped me massively lol
MR-2
Only have changed first joint by far, but steering rack are almost identical, all brackets and rubbers, 99% sure that that part is bolt on. Upper column is still EP70 in my car, I will test that also later, I maybe put Yaris electric ps with adjustable potentiometer.
gorganl2000
just for informational purposes....i can vouch that an ep82 PS rack will work on an ep91
