Oil Level Hot/Cold

cant seem to find straight answer on this one...

fill to max cold ?

or

fill to 3/4 cold

or

fill to max hot

dont matter hot or cold fill till its full on the stick

but usually its cold oil going in so take your pic

only thing is it will expand and go past full when hot as it expands ?

like i put mine full when cold . then was doing some journeys checked when engine hot and its about 5 or 6 mm past the full line

I personally fill to just below the max mark when I'm servicing my cars.

When hot the oil might expand as much as maybe 200ml i wouldnt worry about over filling a smidge anyway.

On the 2000 plate corollas they had an oil burnig issue. The fix they gave was to put a different dip stick in so you added extra oil so it lasted between services 😂

I prefer to overfill the starlets a little, mainly because all mine burn oil and also id rather there was more oil in the sump when doing fast corners.

so full when cold is okay
