Hi all,

So a little over a month a go I decided to buy my second car to get started with my second year of driving. I decided to go with a Starlet EP91 Solida (44.5K on the clock) that I saw on Gumtree local-ish to me as an introduction to Jap cars and also an excuse to get my hands dirty with. My day job is looking after production machines within a factory so I felt that it would tie in nicely with the mechanical side of car maintenance and repairs.

As this will be a long term project car why not start a progress blog. Will post photos and updates of work carried out etc.. May get a little photo intensive but we all love that. Could get videos too through request? It's not too exciting at the moment but it's a good foundation to start off with. Please feel free to throw suggestions my way! Currently in need of ideas and inspiration.

Specification as of 04/07/2016:

  • Ram Air Induction Kit
  • M2 Motorsport Exhaust
  • 40mm lowering springs (Tein rears, unsure on front)
  • Cades Eros Wheels with Nankang NS2's

Below is the car itself (first photo is edited):

You may notice in one of the above photos that the passenger side headlight has condensation. This has since been fixed by taking the head light unit out, getting some air inside it (I use my air brush) which cleared the condensation. I got rid of most of the old sealant around the perimeter as I noticed that there was a gap where the air being blown inside the unit was coming out. The unit was resealed with some standard white silicone sealant.

The previous Saturday to this post I got the brake pads and discs changed for the front tires.

Below are some photos of the brake change:

Looks like a nice base to start on :D any plans for it ?

At the moment I plan to get all the mechanical side of the car checked and sorted. Then I'll move to tidying up the external cosmetic, followed by the internal cosmetic. Hit me up with them suggestions!

I personally would sort the interior before exterior it's just proper grandad spec :p 96/98 Glanza interior is a straight swap or you could put any seats in with modification. But that's just my opinion :p

I'm split between interior and exterior at the moment. Also limited as to what I can do before I get shafted further by the insurance. Not sure about keeping the old original look or to bring it up to 2016 and redecorate the entire interior. Change of colour, seat covers, and new front seats maybe? Got any suggestions for bang for your buck seats?

I've got some totally mint glanza door cards if you're interested? I'm running a fully 98 glanza interior as I mentioned before but it's still of he 90's period but updates it nicely
