Pikey009
I've got an SR and will be turboing the stock 4efe eventually. I'm not going to be chasing figures and will only want to run around 140 ish. Are the stock fte exhaust manifolds and downpipes reliable? Do they crack/fail on stock boost and power? I know there are loads of different kits out there etc etc but I'm on a tight budget and just want a little more power so I'd be looking to use stock second hand parts. I won't be pushing the car any more than that as I've been there and gone mental with other cars.
richardc9052
Probably get a stock mani for free. Spend £15 on an ebay spec dremelRemove the restriction in 3rd runner.Get a cheap decat (ill sell you mine cheap)setup works mint at 0.6 on an efe. Will spike to 0.8 as the rpms climb which is perfect. Almost as if you did it on purpose ;) Edited July 10, 2016 by richardc9052
lukEp
The restrictions in the mani are the biggest in runner 3 but also in runner 2 so I'd be taking the carbide bit to all 4 runners and opening them as much as possible. I've just turbo'd my 4efe it's not hard to leave the UK dash loom in and just do a little soldering so it all works.List of things I've done. Pikey009
Awesome help lads thanks very much. Have you got a build thread Luke? Well seeing as youth they're strong enough that's the way I'm definalty going then I've sacked off the idea of getting a custom NA mani made for a start as I planned to leave it NA for a while on an emb. Il save the money from the mani and get an emanage on it first then collect all the parts I need.
richardc9052
Fe turbo is awesome. End of lol. I did it to my 1e ep80 lol. Now that was quick because it was so light. Pulled on Ek4/ek9`s. Not a massive feat I know but a car standing me 800 vs theur car standing 5/6k+ lol
lukEp
No I've no build thread it's not a project really yet it's just a bit of fun. As rich said you don't have to spend a lot of money you just need to get the right parts. As yours is an SR you'll need 98spec engine loom. Even if you just get the loom and ecu and run the NA engine on that till you turbo it'll run just fine.
richardc9052
You can run any turbo engine loom you want, just get matching sensors.. especially if your keeping the standard interior loom.
lukEp
The 96 and 98 spec looms are different. There not plug and play with each other. They have different plugs in the engine bay fuse box which just means more cutting and soldering.96 spec98 spec Edited July 11, 2016 by lukEp
Pikey009
Thanks for all the help really appreciate it. i didn't realise i needed a whole engine loom. it's going to be off in the future when i finally get this done but i'd rather do all my home work now so i know what needs to be done. There are plenty of threads on it but all seem to be different and say that you need different things so can be confusing. If i could pull on an ek9 i'd be very happy. I'm just after useable power that i can put down in the corners. I'll be running near double the stock power and tourque at the end of the day so it'll feel like a huge improvement I was looking into some sort of aftermarket ct9 kit like race-tech but it seems like over kill for what i want to achieve so that was why i was asking how strong the stock set up is for stock power. Not to mention it'd eat all of my budget even though they're lovely kits.
richardc9052
Yeah.... but I don't touch the fuse box lol. Just an extra single fuse. I do looms for lads putting fte in corollas ,ep70/80 or turboing fes

Pikey009
Who maps det3's? Cool that's what I thought ref the EMB but I wasn't too sure. I know loads about gt4's but still learning about these. Really thanks for all the info so far everyone
richardc9052
Anyone who maps cars will map a det3. Software is free, usb comes with it, no special licence/fees etc for a business to map them.
Pikey009
Never seen them to be honest but defiantly an option.
