MR-2 Posted December 19, 2016 Author Posted December 19, 2016 Paint the bonnet and roof white, will look mint! you planning on painting the engine bay mate?I will paint hood next summer, roof maybe not. First I hated that black hood, but now my eyes are not bleeding anymore. Engine room is bigger job, have to take engine out, because all is almost painted. Daily car and don't have time clean/paint it now :/ Quote
EP70-PT Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 It's a clean EP91, would be worth to build up Quote
MR-2 Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 I should focus to continue these, bought this EP91 that reason Quote
MR-2 Posted December 20, 2016 Author Posted December 20, 2016 Got EP91 Tein lowering springs and radiator for my EP70, fast delivery from UK.Not istalling this winter, don't wanna dip those on salt and car is better with oem springs on wintertime. Quote
MR-2 Posted December 21, 2016 Author Posted December 21, 2016 Scaled my wheels today, 9,2kg :/And tyre was 6,5kgSo about 15,8kg per corner... Quote
MR-2 Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Finally got wheels prepared for paint, tooked maybe ten hours :/ After that I found aluminium center caps, so blasting and powercoating could be possibl for this project, shit...Started one night with backrounds and those dryed several days, just perfect color for brake dust, spokes are so small for cleaning and this was one reason to change color also. Then I ordered wheel caps from Germany, oem style without sticker hole.http://m.ebay.com/itm/TTE-Gecleant-Wheel-Cap-4x-Nabendeckel-1-Satz-Deckel-passend-bei-TTE-Felgen-/232152859545?hash=item360d638399%3Ag%3APiUAAOSwEzxYNbOf&_trkparms=pageci%253A84751e70-de1b-11e6-b80a-74dbd1804fbc%257Cparentrq%253Ab5b1ca641590a6a8f3e86a3dffb37aaf%257Ciid%253A2 Quote
MR-2 Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Sorry, pictures were in wrong order. Here few outside pictures more. Then I got caps, man should use google translator, caps were unprepared universal machined straigt plates, damn, though that they were cast aluminium oem style :/Not perfect fit, 1mm over :/So had to do some edge smoothning for both side, knife sharp edges. Now fits better for my eyes. Then acid primer for bolts and caps. And top coat. Don't even know if going to use these, but had to paint thise same time so color matches. Quote
MR-2 Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Now caps were dryed, not looking bad with boring gunmetall color? Still many months winter left in Finland, have to wait may month :/ Quote
EP70-PT Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 They look good mate 👍 why not urse the original centers? Quote
MR-2 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Wanted spare caps, old plastic were cracked and have to fix those and too many projects going on at same time. Quote
MR-2 Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Wheels look epic mate! Thanks. Looks much better with gunmetall than original silver.Have found four 150mm caps, these smoot flat ones and oem with TTE stickers, Lexus and TTE machined logo. Very similar wheels by the way Nice deeper center on rear wheels... Quote
MR-2 Posted January 30, 2017 Author Posted January 30, 2017 Trunk project contiuned little bit, made cardboard model. Then cutted wooden half floor and drilled/hammered few treadnuts.Ready for carpet and subwoofer some day.Tooked sparewheel bracket away, drilled little bit and bended it, fuck, four holes, not my plan :/ No need for that, still can bend small spare wheel if needed...Amplifier comes under that floor, hanging from the bars, don't wanna put it on floor, some day there may come water after some leak. Wires and cables routed over amp, under wooden floor.I have few extra 4E-FE engines, next attempt is putting 4A-FE exhaust there, very close, have watercut few exhaust plates for n/a and later turbo setup. My first turbo header, don't say anything, that time I was bad welder and designer Quote
MR-2 Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Finally got time to prepare for the summer, still snowy winter here :/Little bit fatty tyres, but maybe good rides coming some day. Quote
MR-2 Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Moved my spare engine to my friends garage, Starlet with twin engine Easier to make header.Found this second pipe as well, very hard to find it cheap.Cutted flanges and brackets away, some parts were touching the block and oil pan.Almost perfect fit, except outer pipes.Little bending and perfect fitment Then old exhaust seal for mould. And later got three stainless and five normal steel plasma cutted flanges. Later coming few turbo header...And few 2" exhaust parts, now have to get time to finnish this project. Quote
MR-2 Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 Purhased Glanza spoiler for 50 euros, not bad att all.Paint was bad, but same as mine.Little cleaning with these and almost like new.Drilled three hole to a n/a boot. Also led brakelight working.Perfect for my car, almost invisible. Lower corners I used two side foamtape and upper corners are attached with bolts. Quote
MR-2 Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 My EP70 Starlet seats, MR2 SW20 covers modded. It was time to take these out for weight reduction.Almost bolt on EP70 rails to EP90, only inner rear bracket needs some patents. And seat belt locking system.Much better, now rest of interior looks horrible :/Seats are so low that I can see my time clock, but steering wheel is now too high, have to lower steering column maybe with washers... Quote
MR-2 Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 My friend welded flange wit Tig, better result than me and Mig. Wanted extra support bracket also. 4-2 header weights 3,7kg. Have to clean header and make some heat shield also, before installing. Rest of pipe had to make later, so can get right curves and lambda sensor positions... Quote
MR-2 Posted March 6, 2017 Author Posted March 6, 2017 Steering wheel column problem solved, added three washers, aprox 10mm is max lowering oem threads. Quote
MR-2 Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 When I bought this car last summer, previous owner had changed tuning rear muffler, horrible sound and axle was hitting to pipe all the time, so I changed it to oem muffler what came with car.Hate this cutted hole in bumper. So I bought brand new Honda Civic Type R oem muffler for 70 euros, now when I'm building new full 2" exhaust anyway and have to think sounds also for n/a and future turbo setup. Not easy to find small semi quiet muffler, so started to watch other cars mufflers.Should be ok for Starlet, same size almost and in/ex pioes are right positions. About 7kg, not bad. Quote
