richglanzav
Right guys i need a lead for a computer at work. The setup is 2 PC's that work off one mouse keyboard and monitor via a KVM switch. I need to print stuff off both of them and it works providing i keep swapping the usb into each tower that i need to print off. But i want a splitter lead that will allow me to print off both as and when i want. Is this lead ok?http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-usb-20-a-to-b-dual-power-cable-3m-a62qc
Calum122
We used something like this at our house: https://www.amazon.co.uk/MT-VIKI-Ports-Printer-Switch-MT-1A4B-CF/dp/B00DRG1QHA But nowadays it's all Wifi.
richglanzav
Need it as cheap as pos. I didnt think i needed networking as due to the kvm switch only one pc is live at a time. And they both work if plugged in to one pc or the other
karl.
Keep the printer plugged into one computer and share the printer on the network and print that way?
richglanzav
Hard to explain but the one comp is like a system computer on linux and the other is just a windows admin comp. So not sure thats possible
TimD
The cable you've posted is for powering a device using two USB ports, rather than sending data to a device from two USB ports, if that makes sense? Looks like you'll need something like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Belkin-2X1-USB-Peripheral-Switch-for-printer-scanner-and-USB-device-F1U201-/251394289494?hash=item3a88446f56:g:2gUAAOxy9X5TaQK4 I have no experience with the above, but understand what you're trying to do, and that should work. nikhilkamdar12
I presume from what you have said above the printer is not a LAN printer and just connects via a lead to the PC. It does not matter if the 2 PC you are using is a Linux box or Windows box providing the correct drivers are installed. You can achieve what you want with some like this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-2-0-Manual-Switch-Peripherals/dp/B005LMX0IG/ref=pd_cp_computers_0 But if a LAN printer you can just share across network and job done Nikhil
