Calum122
This car is absolutely riddled with problems FFS! According to the MOT History, it's been this way since at least January 2013.
5e colin
Easy fix fix it now before it rusts out to much
Calum122
As said, it's been like that for years. I don't drive the car so it shouldn't get much worse. It's not something I can do myself, but my dad doesn't think it'll be a problem. Just out of interest Colin what do you think the best approach to fix it is? It's all concaved in where the Jack has pushed up onto it. Would it be best to cut out the rot and the damage and weld a new piece in?
5e colin
Get steel wire brush on drill clean Al to shiny metal if it's not to thin then rust treatment and reseal and paint after underseal it again that's my going for it
Calum122
Oh it's concaved and split. I.e. There id a hole that goes through the car now. Other than the drainage hole. Looks like something I should get onto next month! Cheers Colin
Calum122
It looks as though a repair was done at some point, badly I might add! And to make matters worse both sills have completely rotten through with a huge dent in the near side sill.

Calum122
Yeah cheers Ollie. The car doesn't actually move, so I have no choice but to do it myself. I will buy a welder if it comes to it lmao! But I will hit you up. Worse case scenario I get it towed there!

Calum122
Well my Dad's had a look at it and he's not bothered. He is sure he can fix it no worries. He is the botched repair, someone tried to hide it with filler as well...cheers. He isn't too bothered about the sills either, he's sure he'll be able to patch it up and repair it, he's confident that the rest of the sills okay.

Calum122
Ha, I don't think he's a big drinker. Some tools for the garage maybe. To be fair I have slaved over his garden helping him sort that out. So we should be square lol
gorganl2000
lolol....calling in the favour on pops the prior work was poorly done, ,,but it does look like a relatively easy repair for someone with decent skill
Calum122
Yes very much so. He is fabricating his own sill to replace the rotten sill. With a bit of luck it's going to look very OEM. The other side however may not, massive dent in the sill. No idea how someones done that. Might be able to bash it out, but it won't look 100%
