SpikeyJp_68 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Ill be putting my car in for nct/mot in the coming months. Its a 1998 ep91 non-impprt (irish car) with a tf035 turbo and im wanting to get a hi-flow cat to bolt in and out under the car im just wondering how big ill need it to be ? I dont want to go balls out and get a massive one straight away just wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this ? Will be putting dipetane in aswell just to keep it down as much as possible Quote
akyakapotter Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 i have a 200 cell sports cat for mot passed last year with flying colours here in the uk. cheers nick Quote

adzy Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I've no cat at all and passed emissions in NI easily, less than 0.5% and we're allowed 3.5%Tho I hear nct is more strict on emissions Quote
Kieran.ep Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 You'll need it right up next to turbo to pass like the stock one is otherwise your wasting your time it won't pass. Quote

Kieran.ep Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 not true mine is where the flexie used to be no issues at all. cheers nick.Nct is different limits to mot Quote
patman Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 i have a 200 cell sports cat for mot passed last year with flying colours here in the uk. cheers nickGot this one too Nick, the sods failed it twice on emissions with decat, installed the sports cat, just passed the flexi bit, and went straight through so easy, Just wondering why the nct over there is different to the mot over here when it comes to this stuff? Surely they don't want there emissions even lower? Quote
SpikeyJp_68 Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 Surely even with a 400 cell it will pass. Cant be that strict that it has to has a 5/600 cell cat rammed up the turbos arse to pass Quote
Foggy Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Lamda sensor need to be as close to the cat as possibly. That's the reason lads find a ct9 with stock cat works best for nct. Lambda is right on the cat Quote
patman Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 So I take it there more strict in Ireland than the U.K., as my lambda of course is in the decat, but admittedly had to put a sports cat on underneath for it to go through Quote
SpikeyJp_68 Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 That makes sense. Will put a hi flow in it first with the lambda in the decat if it fails ill reroute it down to the cat. Is it best just before of just after the cat ? Quote
adzy Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Lambda needs to be before the cat to get a true reading Quote
SKINY Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Can get away with no cat at all on these in the North Quote
