Want to do some colouring in of my car n I've been putting it off due to not knowing what types of paint to buy etc so....

Spray rims

Spray the interiour bit like centre console, dial surround etc make it a bit more prety in the interior

Spray varous engine bits like cam cover, manifold (when i get rolla one) etc

So Plastic paint, Something that wont chip to bits for the rims, n then heat proof

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

as far as this goes bud all you want to get hammerite its the SIZZZZ cums in all coolers and gives good finish, add a bit of laker ind its evan beta thats what i use for all then bits you sad and don't worry bout the heat proof its cool with the hammerite it don't need to be heat proof bud

Ive just done mine JAG. I used Plasti-kote gear, just as good as Hammerite. I did 3 coats of "HOT PAINT" which is matt black. then used 3 coats of blue over the top, sanded off the lines then brushed "TOYOTA" in gold enamel.

When painting plastic make sure you use the correct plastic primer otherwise it will flake over time and look awful.

It all depends on the correct lacquer really, all the paint can be the same.

i personally dont rate plastic primer. its shit and doenst stick well, ive always used normal grey/whiteprimer on plastics, put a dusting coat on it first and then a thin coat when its dry an then youre ready for the colour/basecoat.

if you check my thread ive used normal spray paint on my engine bay bits (cam cover, airbox, dizzy cap etc) and its come out pretty good, if you prepare the surface well and dont take any shortcuts it'll come out good. best to use a real hard wearing laquer too, i use upol clear coat, its quick drying if you put it on lightly, but settles nice and smooth if you give it a thick coat. ask fishy or rob bee-r on here, they were pretty impressed with the finish on the bits i did.

i used the same method on my old n/a and the painted cam cover, airbox and inlet mani are still going well, and that was done 3-4 years ago.

you dont laquer hammerite mate. just spray and let it dry. you dont even need to primer before hand, just make sure its clean.
