Kjaereby
So i got a N/A starlet that i want to upgrade the rear drumbrakes to glanza discs. My question is, can i just buy rear calibers and discs and swap them around? I know there is a problem with the handbrake cables on the 2 models. Or do i need a OEM glanza rear axle? morgey
Yes you can just swap bits over theres also a flange that you need that the caliper mounts to. Flange Calipers Discs (the bearings are in these which is why they cost a lot) Brake lines Handbrake cable Dust covers Personal though unless you are doing track work I really wouldnt bother. The rear disc setup is pretty useless, I've rebuilt and replaced everything on mine, adjusted and re-adjust mine time and time again in various different ways, had garages look over them and try get them to work and they just don't. In every way other than looks drum brakes are the better option.
Kjaereby
Thanks for the reply Morgey. The reason im asking is because i plan to go turbo in the future, and by then i would like to be able to stop again. Cheers
Calum122
Keep the drums lol. Everyone who has done that conversion has said how much better the drums are. Do a search on here and you'll see it.
Starlet__SR
Stick with drums, they only do 12-15% of the braking anyway. If well adjusted they'll outperform discs. Not to mention you'll have a working handbrake.
