iamlegend
its on the rocket cover.what does this do to your car ?make it perform better or sumthing?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIR-BREATHER-FILTER-...1QQcmdZViewItem
ste91
No it just goes where the little breather pipe goes when you change something (I can't remember what) that doesn't have the little thing for the pipe to connect to. So you need a breather filter.Sorry for the crap explination but I can't think of how to explain it without pictures.
Nanglebadger
i hear it also makes a right mess of your rocker cover, ergo a catch can is a better purchase.Phil.
NightSpirit
Basically,Within an engine is oil, oil gets hot, oil expands, produces gas/vapour. This gas needs somewhere to go, so the pipe on the cam cover is most manufacturer's way of solving the issue. It feeds the gas back into the inlet of the car whether that be the filter pipe or the inlet manifold/throttle body area.Removing it is a very good idea...as you can imagine, oil gas and sometimes oil residue itself getting into the system where the fuel is mixed and ignited will lower the det of the mixture, robbing you of power, not to mention getting oil coating on everything (look at most BOV's...).There are 2 ways to fix the problem, firstly fit a catchcan that takes this pipe and feeds it into a metal can, the can can be filled with charcoal like a water filter to remove anything oily and harmful from the gas before returning to the inlet...or the better way...run to a catch can, then filter on the catchcan. You could just filter on the rocker cover, or run a pipe from the cover to the floor in reality. The trackstar, when it's on the rollers...at full chat...you can see the filter on the catchtank SMOKING like a bastard. Imagine that going into the engine.pic:
