Dave@TM-Developments.com Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 god i hope not or im screwedThey have to be in the same order Quote
ChineseMafia Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 what same order ??????????come on guys help us out here Quote
Jozinobi Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Si, now you will understand when I asked about labeling the shims!!!Joz Quote
ChineseMafia Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 ok guys com on what can we do about this cause this is big im down to my last engin and ive had enough problem already hey rick any input on this ? Quote
riko666 Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 all you'd have to do is fiddle with all the shims, measuring the clearance of all...which is very time consuming Quote
StarletRick Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 all the stock buckets are the same. unles youve had cam work done Quote
ChineseMafia Posted May 10, 2008 Author Posted May 10, 2008 yessssssssssssssssssssss men youve made me feeel so much beter rick thanks budPS clear you inbox so i can PM you Ive been trying for days Quote
SiCaln Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 but the intake and exhauat are different yea? ie all exhaust are the same and all intake are the same? Quote
Jozinobi Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 If randomly putting them back is not the case, only means would be to go to a place that does new shims and get them to reshim everything? After all are the shims not there on purpose for proper valve clearances etc?Afaik new shims from Toyota amounts to some £££... bahBut I think Rick means that he put them back in any order on his build and everything seems to be Ok.Hmmmm...Joz Quote
StarletRick Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 you should ideally put them back in the same order. but the shim heights are te same. so it wont matter. its like valves, they should go back in the same order. but it isnt absolutely nessessary Quote
ChineseMafia Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 so will randomly putting them back affect perfomance ? Quote
STEVIE Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 so will randomly putting them back affect perfomance ?No it wont affect the performance but u might end up with an engine that sounds like a tractor .As long as you measure the valve clearance on each one you should be ok . If you make your valve clearances to small your going to bugger up your valves . The clearance sizes are underneath your bonnet on a yellow sticker . i notticed that the other day when i was steam cleaning my engine bay lol Quote
STEVIE Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 oh really? whereabouts? gotta pic?I will post one but here are the clearances 0.20mm and 0.36mm .Its all in jap but am sure the 0.36mm are for the exhaust . To be honest you shouldnt really have to reshim them my engine has done 100000 miles and all mine are ok . The sticker is located on the underside of the bonnet and i made a mistake its a grey sticker not a yellow one Quote
StarletRick Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 both the exhaust and the intake are the same. the part numbers are the same for both buckets. Quote
STEVIE Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 both the exhaust and the intake are the same. the part numbers are the same for both buckets.Hmmm i wonder what the 0.36mm is for then i wish i could read jap haha Quote
DevonGT Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 Anyone know how much shims are? (sorry for spamming) Quote
chall Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 are the valve clearances not hydraulic?? hence why it has buckets under the cam lobe. there is no adjustment there unlike an engine with rockers!?! and if the part number is the same then........... Quote
