cam13T
Hi there, does anybody have any info on the Lightweight version of the glanza?I believe they had wind-up windows and no a/c?Has anybody ever seen a standard glanza S or V with wind-up windows? Thanks,Cam
StarletRick
it wasnt a lightweight version. you had the option in japan to remove luxurys to lower the selling price.basically, the owner in japan was a cheapskate ^^the weights of them vary, depending on how much stuff was removed. cam13T
''There are 2 main Glanza models: Glanza S which was powered by the 4E-FE engine and the Glanza V which has the 4E-FTE engine, the "T" meaning it has a Turbo. In December 1996, the Glanza S Limited was released. It has standard body kits same as Glanza V Turbo except the scooped-hood and the engine did not have a Turbo. A lightweight version of the Glanza V was also released, this didn't have air con, electric windows etc to keep the car as light as possible, the idea being that it would make an ideal track day car.The Glanza V and Glanza S were not sold in Europe and were only available on the JDM Market. Recently the Glanza has become a popular import in the UK for its efficient engine and impressive power outputs.''I got this info from searching, from wikipedia, and i have heard of the lightweight version, but like you said that could have been made up for the low budget people. Glanza-Love
POVERTY SPEC GLANZA ANY ONE ?
StarletRick
er mate, i hate to try to correct you, but thats a wikipedia entry. i could go and edit that listing to say that starlets are made of semen, would that make it true? i have an original glanza specification booklet from when they were first released. it was just removed luxurys to make the price cheaper. most of them have no power windows/wing mirrors or AC. and they dont have the lower lip kit 9 times out of 10. they never made a specific lightweight model. only "optional" model i can think of was the snow edition. that had a better heater and different tyres for people who lived in the snowy parts of japan. cam13T
yeh i didnt think toyota would make a lightweight version but it got me thinking after that false wikipedia entry, undefinedanyway here is a glanza for sale with no extras, and looks like a different interior altogether including seats,Rick was there a budget seat available to cut costs?? ecksjay
companies/people who say its a lightweight edition are just trying to explain why they don't have any of the kit they should usually come with, they ARE poverty spec models, thats it at the end of the day, if they were lightweight models then they'd have gone to alot more effort at reducing weight, frp all over the show, removing that stupid solid rear beam that weighs more than the moon etc.they're still glanza's at the end of the day, just dont pay over the odds for it because its not a special edition, by any stretch of the imagination. StarletRick
mate, youre like 5, you have about 6 years to go before you can pie.well just get dave to make one. only need one lot of semen to sculpt an entire fleet of 600hp starlets.

Driver
its true you could remove stuff to make them cheaper (mine poverty spec but for a reason)but i was told/heard they did lightweight model, with no ac, no leccies, no low boost mode, less sound deadening etc, i was looking for one of these when i bought mine but only ever seen about 3 for sale but none when i had cash, so i setteled for a poverty spec one and stripped aircon and sound deadening out lol, and no i dont meen i seen about 3 povery spec ones i meen 3 with all of the above mentioned in advert, loads of poverty spec onesanyone clear this up as im pretty posotive they did a lightweight model
Guest Enzo
yea those light weight models with the na wing mirrors and very hideous vynal seats!
Starletraje
"only available on the JDM Market."the japanese domestic market market....
Driver
There was a Glanza V model called the P-Sports edition. Single mode turbo setup, few electrics and those hideous vinyl wipeclean seats. Basically just a thin-spec turbo model that no-one here knows the theory behind. Either it was a 'lightweight' sports model (which the name suggests) or an entry level turbo for skinflints. I heard a rumour they cost more than a regular V so it's anybody's guess.Cheers,Jaythats the name i was thinking but couldnt remember the p-sportquite rare and make more money even second hand
Galliano
wipe down vinyl seats? lightweight has just come to me, is it the ones with wheeltrims as apposed to alloys?
StarletRick
they were just the base model for tight fisted japs, as already stated. if it was a lightweight model it would have been alot lighter. dropping 20 kilos of electrics isnt going to make it a track monster. it was just a model so people with less money could get hold of the fte. ady2k5
My mate had one of these lightweight Glanza'.Any idea on how much lighter they are than a Standard Glanza.
StarletRick
about 20 kilos. am i falling on deaf ears? they are not a specific lightweight model, they are just a base model for the lower end of the market. they just so happen to be lighter as all the luxurys are not included. Galliano
so removed was the air con, the leccy's and steelies were replacements for alloys.how much do luxury glanza's weigh standard?
StarletRick
960kg or something like that? cant remember off the top of my head.

Guest Enzo
if it was a lightweight model it would have been alot lighter. dropping 20 kilos of electrics isnt going to make it a track monster.the old clio sport cup droped about 20kgs over the normal clio sport
