minxy
Hey, I remember a while back that someone who was only 17 had bought a Glanza S and insured it for silly money. I'm just wondering if you are still around and who you insured it with as i'm having problems finding anyone who will touch me on an import even the S which is an N/A before i'm 19. It's getting pretty annoying as my 2 years no claims is up in May which is when i'd want to insure it but i'm not 19 til July. Thsi is all dodgy as i did a 10 month policy the first year.Any idea/advice would be wicked...K

Glanza_cl
^^^ lol insurance is not that bad i'm 20 and mine is £970a lot of it depends on your postcode, i live in a low crime rate area.insurance under 19 is always going to be high that's just the nature of insurance for young drivers, especially when you need a specialist to insure you as it's an import.you had an n/a just get another and make it look like a v it doesn't cost that much, why do you want a glanzaS? it's essentially a slightly more powerful n/a with a body kit. Bourkey
Yeah i know him.He had just passed his test a few days before getting the insurance. Import car, not the greatest of postcodes as Manchester is a hotspot for car theft at the moment, and being 17 all contributed to it being 5K. Personally i wouldn't have paid it but if you want something so badly and you have the money then you would. Everyone around Craig said he should get a different car but it's the car he wants and no one was going to change his mind and why should he if it is what he wants? Believe me i wish i had a Glanza S as my first car.I paid over £1400 in my first year on a 1993 1.0l Micra.Bourkey
SpeedFreak
The thing is, as proved, every one is different.I first got my Glanza V at 19, and with 1 year ncb and it only cost me £1000 TPFT in my first year. Now its £750. The cost is all going to depend on the area you live, the company you go with etc.

SpeedFreak
Yup and that fact. Although, some girls have issues getting insured for cheap too!
Bluebear
Writing off my first Starlet completely fucked me over, I'm 19 atm, 20 in Feb, and haven't had an accident since the beginning of 2007 (write off was around december 2006).Have had to be on a named policy ever since, would have cost too much to be as the main. Even now, a quote can be around 2 grand, which I or my parents simply cannot afford.T'is a fucker, but we're waiting to see what it's gonna be like when I turn 20. Was planning on having a GT by then, but hey ho, thats the way life goes. I think the crash actually made me a better driver than I was (not that I was crap in the first place, but..) Craig_N
Hi ye i am insured with sky insurance under a starlet s import Craig
minxy
LMAO @ Glanza Love.I'm lucky in so far as that i'm female and live in a low crime rate area so not too expensive normally. I don't want a Glanza V as they've become more and more common i want something different, i've always liked cars that aren't the same as all the other "Girl/Boy Racers" hence why i bought the little N/A starlet as my first car i just want something with a little bit more go than that had. The S ticks the boxes. Also my BF has a V and its would be a bit much to have EXACTLY the same car! oh @ Glanza CL -i wouldn't waste my money making a car a replica (a fake) waste of money, time and effort. A Glanza S is different its got slightly more power and isn't a wannabe like so many UK Specs are being made to be.Can anyone help with Glanza S insurance though, don't mean to sound rude i appreciate the advice but its all been reasonably irellavent as its been based on Glanza V's
Mikey Jay
Admiral Group companies (Admiral, Elephant, Bell) have Starlet S(import) on their online quote forms if that helps at all?
Glanza_cl
I'm with Adrian flux, they insure a glanza s, most big name jap specialists should have the S in there database
Bourkey
^^^^^ They are for 18+ though. They are very good as well.@ Minxy - I see what you mean about n/a's being wannabe's as i sort have a similar opinion. Why make a car something that it isn't. But then you look at some of the examples of Glanza body conversions on here and the effort that goes into them is amazing. Look at Idrees' and there is a white one on here as well but i have forgot his username.Loads said i should have bought a Glanza and i even had doubts during the process but i wanted to be different and do the swap. The downside is the higher insurance than a Glanza V would be but when you beat another car that clearly should lose against a 1.3 n/a, the swap pays for itself .Bourkey
minxy
I'm not in the slightest bit doubting the work, effort, time and money that goes in to them at all. i personally find it a waste its like the chavs in their Saxo 1.1 "VTR REPLICA" and the Cossie Replica's etc etc.I've tried elephant as i'm cureently insured iwth them but the only has the glanza V or the GT no Glanza S when i called them.
Galliano
tell elephant that the S is a slow glanza V - which in respect, is.other thing i could say on it is, if you want it, find the cheapest S quote, and go with it
