Well, they may or may not do the same job, its expelling air yes, but there's much debate on whether they actually do ANYTHING beneficial, some are in the mindset that they actually hinder the engine, which again, is open to debate.

Although, my opinion on it is, jap car, jap bits, hence why the majority cringe if they see an escort with jap stickers such as 'blitz' etc littering their doors B)

Also, there's no reason to pay twice the amount, you've just gotta be patient, and keep your eyes open B)

The sound is also of big importance to some people. The majority of baileys valves sound very similar, meaning your lovely jubbly jap beasty is going down the road sounding like an escort rst. Alot i've heard i havent liked the sound of either, sound quite flappy, like they're there purely to make a god awful noise, as opposed to some jap items which have 'sounded' much crisper, like they serve more of a purpose.

ofcourse, its all just personal preference. i wouldn't go out wasting money on a cone air filter for example, as the stock airbox does the same if not a better job in the normal location, but again, its all personal opinion and preference.

That detailed enough for you? B)

well having had both bailey and hks on my car, i would have to say that i preferd the bailey, for the pure fact that the hks tended to sound more like a whistle.don't get me wrong it sounded good but i drew more attention with the bailey valve.however that was with a blitz filter on which made the bailey sound different anyway i have now removed the cone and it sounds better still more like the traditional "tsscchhh".anyhow normally i would buy jap parts for a jap car but that was all i could afford at the time and it does the job perfectly well.

ah, well there's exactly my point.

'but i drew more attention with the bailey valve'

i wont pretend to have listened to them in great detail, but they do just tend to sound alot louder, alot more brash, just a lot more 'ohh my god!!, im here, with 0.0000psi of boost, look at meeeeeee!' sorta thing, on all the c*nts with their fiesta RST's etc.

They do the job, and if thats your thing then fair enough, i'm not one to say otherwise, but i just like to think its there for a purpose, dumping as a mere sideline to the engine and exhaust note, not trying to overpower everything (hence the choice of ARC).

They do the job at the end of the day, or at least, they do what you want them to, and as above you wouldnt have any reason to change unless you have money to burn, although i bided my time to begin with and went for what i thought was best suited to the vehicle, in keeping with its roots and how i wanted it to sound to the ear, nothing more.

A friend has a baileys BOVril and although it is the same as andrew has etc, it was barely cheaper than mine and is slightly too loud for my liking. im sure it'll last just as long as any other etc (although the fitting kit does appear rather bodged), but its just not my personal taste, which is nothing anyone should take offense to.

like i said everyone relates the baileys to the rst "brash" sound. mine is the other baileys and does not make that sound.. sounds like a turbo xs...with paul gtt's blitz air filter i bought off him it sounds similar to a blitz bov now.

ill do a video one day soon.

i personally dont like the bov's that dump rediculiously loud and for a long period of time... i like the hks purely for the fact that 1, its jap... and 2, it sounds short, sharp, and purposeful.

i would consider a the baileys, but would prefer to have the blitz or hks.

my 2p.

Rich.

It all depends on how quickly you change gear, baileys you can have a long lazy tssssssch, or a nice short "purposeful" tsch!

I like the SSQV as well but they're so common around my way now that it'd be nice to have a normal sounding dump.

As for the Greddy BOV it sounds a just about the same as a baileys to me.
