rmsnoel
I fitted a Remus back box today and mated it to an old exhaust system i had. Hollowed out the cat, no massive change in exhaust note but she stinks of fuel.Anyone have an opinion on guttin the cat, will it affect my engine or will she be ok? Shaun
it will be fine mate it will sound better and you wont get the flat spot in 1st and 2nd
Glanza_Ragger
when you say gutting the cat... do you mean removing all the baffle inside the downpipe section? and knocking the metal bafffle plate inwards?
rmsnoel
No i smashed up the 'bricks' inside the cat and shaked it out of the exhaust which i had cut a inch or two from the cat.
scutch0
i'd like to see what difference a decat would make to the 4efe, but unless i can get a old standard system i wont bother trying it.
rmsnoel
@scutch no noticable power gain though i still have the cat box fitted. Cuttin it out 2nite and puttin in a straight section of pipe.
whitestarlet
tou will notice the engine is a little more responsive throught the gears but not too make an awful lot of difference.
Guest Enzo
if your lucky enuf to have a turbo then it should make a noticable differece!!!

lurcho69
i have stainless straight through from the cat to the back box.If i was to take my cat out, would it be ok with just a back box or will there not be enougth back pressure. its a gtturbo ep82
Guest Enzo
because its a turbo back presure does not really play a part in engine performance. so you would be sound, there is a hoo haa over on anther site on weather you would be able to pass an mot emissions test with it off.lloyd, how long did it take you to do this?im gona put that up on the front page once its finito!!! scutch0
n/a's need good backpressure for performance mate... turbos dont really need much back pressure as far as i know. should be fine.Rich.
lobotomy
there is a hoo haa over on anther site on weather you would be able to pass an mot emissions test with it off.The GT's and Glanza's have no UK equivalent so I thought they were all tested on a more lenient "general" emissions test (which I've heard you can pretty much pass unless you're chucking big lumps of coal out the back of your exhaust)
Guest Enzo
tis is what i have heard but a few people have fialed this due to ignorant mot testers maybe?
scutch0
yeah, jim had this trouble.Rich.
