Pav
This is an interesting thread, its nice to see some parents actually encouraging our hobbies with our cars rather than wasting money on getting wrecked every week or on pointless crap. Neither my mum or my dad are into cars, I on the other hand am car nuts, I have no idea where I get it from! My mum used to question me about all the stuff that came in the post when I had my old car, so much so that I would never let slip what I'd bought or how much I'd spent, shed probably flip otherwise . As for bits lying around, I had the occasional bunch of car parts in the garage which she would moan about or tell me to move/throw away lol.Now I never get moaned at for spending money on or messing with my car as I live a good 1 hour from my mums house! Its brilliant, I have my own garage with a small drive to work on the car, housemates from uni who take a genuine interest in my antics even though they're not car crazy, plus I have a shed all to myself which is now full of standard glanza parts, but more importantly, no nagging parents! I'm heading back home next week for xmas, my mum hasnt seen the glanz for months and it was pretty much standard back then, uh oh . Hope she doesnt notice the mods like the fmic, coilovers, wheels, bride seat etc haha. most of the mods are quite covert and not visible to the naked eye so I should be ok! Glanza-Love
Well my parents used to hate me modding the car.. they moan if i leave a bucket seat here or a turbo there... carbon fibre eye brows on the cupboard.. front mount lien about... god they used to knack alot.. but now they gave up.. i do all my work on the car at my dads friends garage anyway.AND I HAVE MY HOBBY! SpeedFreak
"and he doesn't spend money on anything else"not even for you?? LOL,Yes he does spend money on me. We don't tend to buy each other big gifts though, unless it's xmas and birthday. But we share when it comes to cinema/car shows/takeways etc. But we rarely go clubbing or anything, so I spend my money on clothes & shoes and he spends his on his car! Galliano
sorry to hear about your parents not letting you do anything to the Paseo...my mum doesnt really care, aslong as i do everything safely, and if theres anything bigger to do we call in my neighbour who used to be a mechanic (so i can learn from what hes made mistakes on).my mums happy to let me have a spare bumper in the garden, spare bootlid in the garden, spare seats in my room, spare parts in the loft... etc etc...so long as i know where it all goes i can take anything i like off of it, and put anything i like onto it.tell your parents they have nothing to worry about with sound of the car - mine cuts out our freeview. Bourkey
I did my swap on the driveway. My dad wasn't happy about it at first as im not very organised with tools. I just use them and put them down where i like. He did get interested and helped out though in the end.Funny thing is i should really listen to him about the tool things. I've left spanners in the engine bay before and they have dropped out while i have been driving. Funny as hell .Bourkey
