TSP
How do they stack up? I don't mean at all in the performance stakes, or the street cred stakes but what I mean is, how do they stack up every day?Would I find an 82 dated after owning a 91? Oh and would it fucking rust as badly? Don't read into this, not in the slightest!
Glanza_cl
here's a thread all about the differences:http://www.ukstarletclub.com/forums/index....showtopic=17462but generally i like them both, just prefer the styling of the ep91 more the ep82.plus personally i think the ep82 is more common (i didn't say that)
Markoos
haha who said that? i didnt hear anything!
Nanglebadger
im a 91 fan simply because i own one and am used to lookin at it, i love the styling of them, but thats not to say that i would never own an 82 or 85, hell i'd snap your arm off for a 71 turbo! with the right styling an 82 can look as pure evil as a well styled 91 in MY eyes.the interior of the 82s can feel SLIGHTLY dated if your used to a more modern car, but if your used to slightly older cars, maybe older mk escorts etc etc then its fine, it has all the mod cons that u could really ask for tbh.Phil. TSP
Thanks Phil, just what I was looking for Hm decisions...
Nanglebadger
I've been in a couple of GTs, mainly jays.yes they are not as modern as contemporary vehicles, and u will notice a difference between them and the 91s, but really, when u sit in one and ask urself " do i REALLY need any more than this?" the answer is HELL NO! the 82s provide everything u need and even if u wana update it slightly its not hard to add seats or cd players or CF bits or paint some bits and bobs. i wouldnt let the fact that they are starting to get on in years as Jay might say put u off seriously considering one!Phil. ste91
I own an EP91 and have been in an EP82. Before I'd been in the 82 I wasn't expecting much but it's actually not bad, infact in some ways I like it more. The dashboard has big clocks that are easy to look at, the glovebox seems to be more "upright" rather than sticking out (so slightly more room for your knees if you have to have the seat forward), the door and seat trim looks nice... bla bla...To sum it up - before I'd been in a GT I didn't like EP82's much, now that I've been in one I'd happily own one (which I plan to next year). Nanglebadger
TSP i think u should sell me that optional passenger footwell storage box now that I've given u such GREAT advice! its not FREE advice u know!!!!!! lol!Phil.
Callan
ep82s dont rust, if youve got one with rust id seriously be worried , interiors are mordern compared to a rs turbo or r5 gt turbostock seats are comfy in my quadlight, suspensions good because i dont have scaffolding poles (lol jokin) and very easy and comfy to drive
Asad
Im in the same boat tbh....a 1998-1999 V has alot to show for itself i.e dual air bag, abs, air con, pas, old school reliablity (they dont do this option anymore ), full electrics (mirrors, windows, CL), even the interior isnt that bad......not to mention looks + the fact it can shift its self pretty damn quick.BUT on the other hand im very interested in a 82...... RobSR
even tho I have a 91 I would go for an 82. the 82 feels a lot more solid and better built compared to my 91. 82 has a lot nicer driving position aswell.
Bluebear
EP82, love them to bits, and can look like proper track slags with grille removed, especially the square lamps.Would I have one? Of course, and theres an offer I can't resist on the horizon...
ste91
GT vs Glanza is an easy choice IMO unless you have plenty of £££.
Idrees
I agree about the seating position in the EP82, stock vs stock of course.
paul w
If you had bothered to look around a bit theres a huge thread all dedicated to the fact EP82's are the far superior machine in every way although there is some spam from the EP91 owners in there. As is said in the other threadGlanza's are for puffs and girls
Glanza Al
That is all.

Tintin_SR
i have to say that if i do decide to have a norther starlet it will be an ep82! tell you what i love to bits and thats the dials with the proper rev on it ohhhh sute you
TSP
Hmmmmm I only posted about this because the other posts are performance orientated. I think I may start looking for a GT. My poor little SR needs more work than I thought Then again, do I want to spend £3k on a 10 year old car which could blow up at any time.... ARGH. Heart says retro ride with no interior, head says spend a bit more and get a Yaris T-Sport or Fiesta ST.Wallet says keep the SR and watch bits drop off it! Haha!
ste91
Get a GT. The Yaris T-Sport is a good car but doesn't have the performance of a GT/Glanza. Fiesta ST is a joke. 2 liters and all you get is 147bhp? That is so incredibly underpowered...fucking pathetic.Aslong as it is treated well and not a dodgy clocked one or anything like that then I wouldn't worry about a GT "blowing up". Asad
Whats wrong with your SR? whats dropping off?......
TSP
Whats wrong with your SR? whats dropping off?......It's the shell really mate, nothing drastic but it's starting to rust. The doors, bonnet and boot are the worst. It's only bubbling surface rust at the moment but I know from experience that once you start chasing rust you never stop. I would have a bash at sorting it myself but I don't have the time, space or money really.I'd buy a mint GT if I were to get one. The main reason I considered an ST is to avoid this happening in the future.
Sparky
Never really had a problem with rust on both my Starlets, thats very strangeYou can get a MINT GT with low miles for less than £2500 now mate and it will piss all over a Sanitary Towel
