lobotomy
Hi I've got round to buying myself a Glanza guys. But I've been trying to insure the thing all week but nobody lists the glanza. I've tried explaining to them that it's just a facelift GT but that's not been working - They say it's because they don't have a 97 turbo on their system (or a 96turbo anymore as it turns out)How have people been insuring their Glanza's recently?I've tried Adrian Flux and a lot of the magazine insurers and best so far (a couple have yet to ring back) is Adrian Flux £1538 TPFT which is a bloody joke since elephant quoted me £600 for a 95GT!?!Any help would be appreciatedAdrian

lobotomy
Ok guys this has been my days work (whilst at work - what a flexible job I have) My bro emailed me a list of insrers recommended by the SXOC so I went through the list:Adrian Flux£1538 TPFT£200 compulsory excessFree Legal CoverA-PlanNo quote - Need 2 years no claimsAcademyNo quote - Said they'd call back but never didGSi InsuranceNo Quote - Said they'd phone back but never didInsurance FactoryNo Quote - Said they'd phone back but ever didFred Roberts & partnersDon't do motor insurance (Ha that phonecall was embarassing)GreenlightNo quote - Need 1 years no claimsA -QuoteNo quote - Didn't list a 97 turbo StarletAONNo quote - Only insure classic cars (what a Glanza isn't a classic )BasildonNo quote - Don't insure under 25'sDirect LineNo quote - Don't insure cars with alloy wheelsKeith MichaelsNo quote - Rang Out (obviously didn't need my business - sounded like a pornstar anyway... knob)Hi PerformanceNo quote - Got through to someone who sounded like they were on their luch breakBellNo Quote - Never listed Glanza and because they're part of te admiral group never bothered trying to phone them to explainElephantNo quote - Said they absolutely couldn't quote me as they never had a 97 turbo import starlet on their systemQuinn DirectNo Quote - Don't insure under 25'sAnd I tried countless others (about another 10 insurers) on the net but when they only returned 95GT's or 1997 NA starlets I gave up on them---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I did however get a quote though:Master Quoter£1357.00 Fully compFree RAC breakdown coverFree Legal feesThey never listed the Glanza but I spelled it out to him (literally G-L-A-N-Z-A ) and explained that it was a face-lift GT and he went away and asked his brokers or whatever he does and came back to me with that quote! So I reckoned it would be as cheap as I was gonna get it so accepted. It's funny. Reckon you just have to get them in a good mood. I'm not saying that phoning elephant and telling them this doesn't work - It just never for me (And would rather be insired on correct car)
Sparky
Direct LineNo quote - Don't insure cars with alloy wheels<{POST_SNAPBACK}>What tha F*ck?????????
lobotomy
Yep phone up... guy asked the usual details then first one about the car was: He said: "Is it modified in any way" I said; "It's got aftermarket alloy wheels" He jumped in immediatley and said: "Sorry we don't insure cars with modifications"And since that is the only modification I had gotten around to listing I assumed that's what he meant.
lobotomy
Well modding might need to go on the back burner for a few months now.Paid a little more than I wanted for the car - but it was local and in perfect nick.Paid a lot more on insurance than I wanted too so that's made a huge dent in my modifying budget. We'll see how it goes... suppose everyone says tat when they get their new car
