i have my glanza now and was soooo so happy with it until the actuator went i replaced this with a HKS one and got it all set up but now theres a problem on the fuel side of it that when i put me foot down it boosts up but hardly even pulls i ve been told it might be the cat, or it may need mapping, or could be a fuel pump but the options are endless, this isnt the first thing to happen do i just have a bad glanza or are they renound for faults and by the way its not my driving cause i drive it REALLY carefull cause the amount i had to scrimp and save to get it was unreal and i do genuinly look after it.

mate whats the spec list may help abit, could be a simple thing like a boost leak? or clutch slipping, ht leads fcuked? i would put up a spec list and go from there.

agreed.. if its only come about after the fitting of the actuator, it may well be somthing you have not put back on properly, or knocked while working on it ect... or it could be somthing totaly unrelated! thats the "fun" of working on cars

whats mileage ect on engine and condition? totaly looked after all its life? or hammered with 15 different owners?

welcome by the way lol

i do have a boot gauge cause when the actuator was first fitted it over boosted and the fuel cut out came into effect, umm its just had a new distributor cap, its got performance leads on it

umm the description i can give is first and second gear pull but no where near as much as they should then in second it ll rev to like 5000 rpm but feels like its pulling aa caravan, then third will rev to about 3500-4000rpm again its like it hits a wall and just has no pull then 4th is 3500rpm again no pull feels like i ve got a huge caravan behind me then 5 th goes up to about 4000 with difficulty but still not much pull, and this is it think the previous owner ragged it a bit it is a fresh import im the first uk owner but its done 60000 MILES NOT kilometers, and i can tell from the front there was an intercooler there previously,

im thinking its the cat but like i say im not to mechanically minded tbh so im not sure

and thanks haha shame i couldnt be on here going my glanzas amazing so quick and reliable haha but this is the thing about dream cars lol

this is my first turbo car have driven turbo cars before though and know about oil changes and all that

and the actuator has been put on correctly was done by the owner of GBH motorsports who are jap car tuning specialists lol

engine looks ok i had the cam belt and oil changed and the oil looked brand new, it has a blitz induction kit on it.

Fuel cut?

How much boost does your gauge show? Fuel cut is at around 12.5 psi.

It started since you changed the actuator? (Was there any problem before you changed it?) It could be something simple like you have the boost turned up too high.

there was no problem before i changed the actuator the reason i changed the actuator is cause the original one in the glanza the diapham went in it =(

and yep your right cause its a protective measure the fuel cut out but since the actuor has been set up it doesnt over boost anymore, it runs about 0.72 on low boost but got told not to do high boost till this problems sorted.

So you're around 10 psi on low boost, what's your high boost set at? I'd imagine you'd be hitting fuel cut straight away on high as you're already fairly close to fuel cut on low.

What other mods do you have? Exhaust system? Decat?

Are you sure you aren't getting any creep?

tbh it could be easily creeping to fuel cut, but with fuel cut its like some1 slapping the brakes on but only lasts a second or so, not what hes describing. the things i can think of is clutch slipping? and the most likely thing would be a boost leak is just like you described reving up as normal but not pulling, also try and borrow some ht leads,i had a problem with mine recently and it was really sluggish!! hope you get it sorted

the clutch slipping?

and it hasnt been set up on high boost yet cause the bloke said theres no point till he sorts the other problem

but yer its not fuel cutting at the moment

wouldnt a boost leak mean the lights wouldnt light up? you no the three green ones?

umm no other mods completly standard atm

aND WHATS "CREEP"?

oh really how come?

does it sound like boost leak then?

basicly all your cat does is to help clean up the emmisons when they die they just stop cleaning up the emmisons only time they would stop it from pulling right would b if u had a crack or hole in it then u would lose power but u would also have a big change in exhaust sound

oh i see well i took it back to WRC today (who to anyone reading this do NOT buy from them cause they are COCKS and the owner doesnt honnor garentees and is a dick)

he said the actuator was missing a pipe which dont sound right because GBH motorsports fitted the actuator and they only deal with jap cars and i very much doubt the mechanic would leave a pipe off the actuator in fact i know he didnt because when i checked the oil and that this mornig it wasnt hanging off!!! but matey up theres no saying it didnt need a new actuator BUT it did because Toyota said so so i changed it but he said cause it still hasnt solved the problem there was no need to buy it but blatentley did cause the diaphram in the old one was knackared and now the new ones fitted it'll go over 40mph and the engine management light doesnt come on everytime you put your foot down, but guy from Wrc says because this hose wasnt connected the turbo will now be damaged

PLEASE EVERYBODY DO NOT BUY OFF WRC SALES BRADFORD HE'S A ROUGE TRADER WHO WILL NOT HONNOR HIS WORD AND I FEEL I MUST WARN YOU TELL YOUR FRIENDS ASWELL HE IS CRAFTY AND IT REALLY ISNT WORTH IT, TRYING TO GET MONEY BACK ON THE THREE MONTH GARENTEE I MIGHT ASWELL PISS INTO A HURRICANE!!!!!!!!

sounds like the problem you have is small, the turbo wont be nackered, the standard actuater has three pipes coming off it, the therd pipe is for the high low boost solenoid, thats the one thats not connected. as the hks only has provisions for two pipes and a t piece kit if you wanted to keep the high low boost solenoid on. so it sounds like the guy is talking shit

it sounds like something simple is wrong

give us your number in a pm so i can give you a wee phone.

just a thought. you said it looks like its had a front mount intercooler on it before? so im guessing now it hasnt? just wondering if a standard intercoolers been put back on has it been put back on properly? cause if not the boost will be leaking and if youve got that the car will just act like theres no turbo there and turn into a 1.3 n/a basically so id check that 1st matey

Ah you should have told us it was from WRC, most people have heard about that place.

its slower than a standard 1.3 starlet mate

and oh really well like i say i took it to GBH motorsports and the bloke there builds 200sx drift cars and time attack cars so im like he wouldnt have forgotten something stupid like that

but yer he opened the bonnet and goes theres your problem one of the pipes isnt connected so thats why its not accelerating and because this pipe wasnt connected the turbo will be damaged because of it

and oh dear so basically im in the shit =(

seriously this bloke he told me to take it to toyota and all that then to replace the actuator and when i went to see him today hes denying all knowlege of this =(

and will do enzo

under your top mount intercooler there is a wee black plastic valve with a pipe going onto it they r weak as f**k to say the lease and i have known of a few people to break these by just leaning on the top mount take your top mount of and check it gee it a wiggle c if its attached ok could just b that

having a missing pipe of the actuator is in no way going to effect the turbo (apart from maybe over boosting) which yours isn't... my advice would be to find someone that knows GLANZA'S nd get them to look. just because someone does up other jap cars doesn't mean then automatically know how a starlet works.

doesn't sound like there is anything major wrong apart from some wrongly placed pipes and maybe a leak.
