GT Phayer Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 i was havin a lil race with my mate the other day and wen i got to hi revs in 3rd gear it was asif the car stoped :Sall it has is a decat and an air filter is it normal to be hitin fuel cut ( if thats what it is )with those mods ? Quote
ste91 Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 People say "all cars are different" so yes it could be possible to get fuel cut with those mods. (Do you have an exhaust system aswell? I'm guessing you have?) Quote
WallaceGlanza Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Yes its possible to hit with just those mods, get a decent boost gauge to keep an eye on the boost levels, you don't want to be hitting the fuel cut to often as it can do damage. Quote
Steve GT Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 my old 4efte engine used to hit fuel cut all the time and all i had was filter and dumpvalvethen after replacing the engine with a newer younger one i put a full system on it including decat, FMIC etc loads of mods and I've never had fuel cut sinceso yes everycar is different but id get a boost gauge to check the boost levelshave you got a standard actuator or adjustable? if adjustable check the previous owner hasnt turned the boost up past fuel cut restrictions as well Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 o and it has a fuel cut defender aswell Quote
WallaceGlanza Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 You shouldn't be hitting fuel cut if it has an fcd, but you shouldn't have/need an fcd with just those mods anyway, you may actually be running lean.As I said get a decent boost gauge so you can see what boost it's running. Quote
GT Phayer Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 ok mate i didnt put it on the bloke i bought it off did Quote

GT Phayer Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 wouldnt if its runin lean affect the emissions ?its just been m.o.t by myself and it sailed through Quote
ste91 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Previous owner sounds like a bullshitter to me... Quote
Glanza_cl Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 this happens on lo boost by the wayso it doesn't happen on high boost?have you not got a boost gauge yet? if not stop posting go get one wire it in then see what your boosting... otherwise we cant really help much more other then say your over boosting. Steve GT Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 if that doesn't work uprate your fuel pump and see if that fuels it betteryour standard fuel pump could be fooked and now fuelling it properlyeny engine management light before it its fuel cut? Quote
ep82 gtt Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 i used to hit fuel cut flully standard, i tie wrapped all my actuator, vac lines and oem boost controller lines so so they was tight so there wasnt no air leaks and ported my wastegate and didnt have a problem.now fitted ss mani,decat,2.5" cat back and relocated filter to the front and still on standard actuator and holds boost absoloutely fine. Glanza_cl Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 perhaps it was a miss fire, when was the car last serviced? i would give it a good oil change, new plugs, new oil filter. fuel filter and i bet it will run like a dream Quote
