ste91
Over the last two weeks or something I noticed my oil was low so I topped it up about a week ago, I checked it again last night and it's gone low again. But I have no idea where it's going, there aren't any leaks and I haven't noticed any smoke and there's no loss of performance or anything like that so I don't have a clue what's going on.Surely I'd notice a loss of performance if it was burning oil? Or I'd see smoke?Anyone got any ideas? My engine has around 82k miles on it and has been well maintained as far as I know.
StarletRick
have you checked for leaks? have a proper look for nay damping on the block/gearbox. do you still have a standard cat? if the engine is using oil, it doesnt mean it will smoke a ton. it may just be using a little bit and youre not noticing it burn off. just have to give it a proper check over to see where its going! ecksjay
may be a leaky sump gasket?
Starlet__SR
If you do alot of hard driving it will use more oil than normal. If you drive like a complete twat, then it will guzzle oil, unless you've got a seal leaking or it's burning oil, don't worry about itDamien

It's a good job I check the oil regularly else I don't think I would have noticed it otherwise. So yeah I do rag it, but I don't hit the rev limiter or sit there revving the tits off it or anything like that. Russleh
as said it could be a leak. my rear main on seal on my n/a was gone and it never really dripped on my drive but could see it all around where the box goes onto the engine. this needed filling every week or so. ( note to self, still need to fix this ) Russell

Just keep an eye on it, try and work out roughly how much it is using, try different styles of driving maybe? If there's any drastic loss thats when you need to start worrying.Damien
ste91
I suspect it may just be going through the oil breather pipe back into the engine and burning away?I might give the engine a flush to be on the safe side.
