Gunk In My Oil Catch Cat And Around It

Recommended Posts

though the headgasket might be goin but i think i have sorted coolant leak so it wasnt goin into cylinders and think my thermostat is dodgy

compression test showed 160 across all 4 cylinders and no gunk anywhere else ( dipstick or filler cap) or even when i take the pipe that goes to the can its just normal oil residue.

That's exactly what you should expect to find in an oil catch can - oily gunk, the oil that collects in the can will gain moisture from atmosphere and end up like that.

Just empty it out and if it fills up again quickly the engine may be breathing heavily.

About time somebody answered with some sense. ;)

When was the last time you emptied the can?

Does the car still drive the same.

It has nothing to do with a headgasket going, but it is possibly the engine breathing heavy.

OR

The can is just needing emptied.

emptied yesterday lol ( stuff at the bottom was there before i emptied it )

what would cause it to breath heavily. is my engine unfit ??? :D

i thought it was a bit down on power but that could be in my head or down to it overfueling.

thanks for the sensible answers
