Russleh
gonna be picking up a bottom end to rebuild this weekend. will be replacing the bearings on crank and rodsthrust washerspiston rings and the crank needs a regrind. just wanna know 1. are the bolts for the rods and crank ok to use again ? 2. is there a special type of oil to use for initially lubing up the bearings or will engine oil be ok ? 3. common question but i wanna be 100%. 99% is not enough. all 4efte bottom ends the same ? would be crap to spent time n money on this for it not to fit lol. 4. just thought of another. after a crank regrind is all still fine to use standard shells ? thats all i cn come up with for now Russell

Not sure, better to get new ones I expect.2. is there a special type of oil to use for initially lubing up the bearings or will engine oil be ok ? Yes, assembly lube.3. common question but i wanna be 100%. 99% is not enough. all 4efte bottom ends the same ? would be crap to spent time n money on this for it not to fit lol. As far as I know they are all the same apart from later Glanzas having lighter rods but that's insignificant.4. just thought of another. after a crank regrind is all still fine to use standard shells ? You will need to check the tolerances, most likely need different ones. thats all i cn come up with for now Russell
llawgoch
you will need undersize bearings if your crank is getting reground. the place thats regrinding it will tell you how much theyv took off and they should supply the correct bearings to suit.

Bolts are fine to re-use on the crank and the nuts can be re-used on the rods. Make sure the rods are in good condition before putting anything back together.2. Assembly lube, or engine oil will do the job just fine.3. All 4e motors share the same block. No fitment issues.4. If the crank needs ground, the machine shop will be able to supply bearings to suit. This should also include thrust washers.
Russleh
thanks for that info dude. im assuming when checking rods , not bent is basically what im looking for
rorenapier
Yep and if the bearings have let go in a big way, the rod may be no use if it has been excessivley scored.
