Just purchased a toyota starlet sr 98. i have now moved on from the nova scene and wanted sometin a little more reliable. Being only 17 gettin insured on anything else was impossible so i settled for the sr model.

I want to make a glanza replica, or somethin along those lines though don't know entirely what the differences are, so if someone could just fill me in it would help alot thanks.

Main differences are:
  • The 4EFTE turbo engine
  • The Bonnet
  • Headlights
  • Front Bumper
  • Rear Bumper
  • Tailgate
  • Rear Lights
  • Spoiler
  • Colour Coded mirrors
  • The Glanza has a sauge line instead of a bump strip

Is everything transferable, like are they all simple bolt on mods or are the headlights different shapes and do the bumpers line up with the wings etc?

No not really

I had a look back in the extreme EP rides section for a pic of Shaun's old Glanza conversion -- He posted a pic of exactly how much the Glanza bonnet/bumper don't line up with the NA headlights. So if you want to get a Glanza front end you'll need the whole she'bang.

It all mates perfectly well with the wings though. Also people putting the Glanza tail lights on their NA's need to cut a little into their rear bumpers -- but if you were going the whole conversion you'd have the Glanza bumper anyway.

One of the easier options is to make a splitter and cut the NA front bumper -- It can be quite effective in some cases. For instance have a look at starletto Joz's NA.

P.S If anyone has that pic of shauns car with the Glanza bumper/bonnet and the NA headlights could you post it up for example sake.... cheers.

Ah rite ye i understand, i am really liking wylo's SR, what is reasonable to lower starlets iam use to going 80mm plus but all seems to be available are 40mm springs, any decent coilover sets around? iam picking the car up to tommorow so i'll post some pics. Think i'll start with some enkei wheels, clear indicators, sort out the grille? clear indicators off ebay and remove the bump strips.

For instance, Joz has the NA front end with a custom splitter:

And a Glanza'ish back end -- back bumper, lights, side skirts with the NA tailgate.

-80mm, you are from the nova breed aren't you

Probably the best value coilovers available right now are the D2's

sr's look unique and different to your average glanza. leave it as it is mate, get tasteful stuff etc, then when you're able to afford to buy/insure/run a glanza properly then you can just swap the bits over (suspension etc), which will save you a hell of a lot of money, and will enable you to get plenty of driving experience beforehand

welcome mate. dont know if im telling you this too late but the clear front lenses on ebay are about £30. the part numbers are on this site for them and you can get them from toyota for about £10 the pair. if its not to late do a search of the forum. i guess its an extra £20 saved to put towards building a sweet sr.

keirz.
