lanxter
Right well I have recently switched to TD04 and have a civic alloy rad in place on my car, however I have noticed this gets really hot compared to the standard rad. I'm wondering if there is any way I can improve the cooling of the radiator as I'm worried about it overheating? I cant fit a thicker or longer rad due to the shape of the manifold. I have the biggest fan I can fit on the rad. I have looked at a sard low pressure thermostat but not sure how much of a difference this would make? Anything else I can do? Thanks Mark

Thanks MarkYou could block off each side of the rad so the air is directed to the rad more, you will see gains from the sard thermostat this will open at a lower temperature keeping the water at a cooler temp also maybe putting a smaller rad in there to along with the civic one maybe a mini? one as the more surface area there is to cool the faster it will cool my bro in law has hooked a oil cooler size rad just before the turbo for extra cooling. lukEp
FMIC sole purpose is to lower air intake temperatures and with him running td04 I would expect him to already have one fitted as the TMIC is not big enought to run anything over standard boost.
lanxter
Thank you for the reply chaps. Yeah I have a FMIC lolIts mainly the rad running hot im worried about.Where did your bro get the 2nd mini rad from matey? as ive never seen them oil cooler size.Ill get a sard thermostat and see what thats like. Also has anyone tryed this?http://www.tuningdevelopments.co.uk/prodde...prod=HeaderTankdo they work? WallaceGlanza
I wouldn't bother with the low temp thermostat, it's not good if the car runs too cold and they can make that happen. Get a cooling panel or make one to direct the air towards the radiator and that should help a bit. However I wouldn't be worrying too much about the temps unless you actually have a gauge to show that it's getting high, the bigger manifold for the td04 will be putting out more heat due to the larger surface area so that could be what you're noticing - no point trying to fix a problem when there might not be one! riko666
A good thing to do would be to create a cowling for the fan, like Nightspirit did on a small size radiator like the Civic one
Steve GT
thsts ^^^ a good suggestion. also id get a cooling panel too stops the air going upwards when it reaches your car and directs it smack bang into the fmic/rad area
