winchboi
Hi i have just installed a tubular corrolla manifold on my EP91 1998 Starlet, should i put the corolla ECU on my starlet ?or do i have to re-set the ECU ? if so how ?Cheers Karl
ToyotaTech15
Your starlet ecu will be fine and won't need reset or anything, are you have problems with it running?Gary
LukeSR
I didn't reset my ECU, just left it to idle for 10-15 minutes then took it for a drive
winchboi
No everythings running fine but i just read things on different websites about different ECUs and Resetting the standard, i didnt know what to belive .realisticly how much power would i have gained from a cold air induction with cone filter and the corolla manifold ??and also is there any advantage to wrapping the standard exhaust manifold with the heat shield stuff ? lolcheers karl
Amjad
You've probably gained around 10bhp on a healthy engine I would imagine.I don't know about wrapping the exhaust components, but some fresh spark plugs and oil will get the car running sweet. If you want to go further, get a Cat-back exhaust (2" diameter) the response is really nice with that setup on mine.
winchboi
Fair Enough would it be worth getting the injectors and ecu off the corolla i took the manifold off ? or will there be no difference in performance ? sorry for all the questions but im no mechanic LOL cheerss
ste91
No all you need is the manifold.
ryan lang
nah you shouldnt have to change anything dude, just the manifold itself is fine

ryan lang
did you use a new pipe for 1 of the sensors or leave it unplugged tho?
Amjad
Ooh about injectors and ECU, I don't think you'll see a difference, but the 1st Generation 4efe injectors give slightly better power top-end. See redz11's build thread
winchboi
did you use a new pipe for 1 of the sensors or leave it unplugged tho? What Sensor do you mean ??
Amjad
The MAP sensor on the firewall, the corolla mani requires a longer vacuum hose to get to the MAP sensor..
winchboi
Oh Yea . .i used a longer tube . . seems to drink petrol . . . . but might just be me flooring it to hear that noise
