Lukas oversteer parry Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Hi am buying a starlet gt turbo very soon and am a bit worried about the insurance. I will be 20 1 years no claims held my license almost 2 years am getting quotes on a few starlets for around 900 pound but its hard to get a quote for a starlet gt turbo because its an import.Any help would be much appreciated Quote
ryan lang Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 the turbo part is why its hard to get insured on 1 a non turbo starlet (sportif,s.SR,cd etc)are better for insurance because they are n/a's Quote
_shaun_ Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 sky insurance join up on tgtt forum and u get a 20% discount aswell most normal insurance places will just laught at u when u say its an import Quote

nazzurro19 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 the sites that dont list it wont insure you even if you ring up it took me bout 4 months to find a god insurer and i went with the insurance factory 1600 tpft and im 20 1 yrs ncb and driving 1 year no accidents and no1 listed on my policy etc Quote

Scott-EP Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Mine was just under a grand when i was 19 with 2 years ncb...This yeah it would be under £600 without the modifications!! But elephant are stinging me £700 for mods.. Not Happy! Quote
Lukas oversteer parry Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 got a quote for 1800 atm with admiral 10 month policy will shop around tomorrow. thats what i pay on a lupo though so its not all bad but still a piss take as far as im concerned lol 1600 isnt too bad i would say 2k with mods on a glanza is cheap!! _shaun_ Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Your in the lowest risk area of the uk though i wish lol for some stupid reason they class it as a glasgow postcode i used to stay out a lil bit from town when i moved in to the town center which as u no is a tiny lil place they wanted to charge me £200 more on a civic.main thing i hate about dunoon if u want insurance they say the postcodes a glasgow postcode so u get charged extra..... if u want something posted they claim its an island (even tho i can drive to glasgow in just over an hour) so they charge u extra for postage....well that and the fact if your under 25 u must either drive a 1L corsa with a 5inch exhaust or a clio if not u no shit about cars rant done Quote
Scott-EP Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Honestly i do not know why they've got a GT and a GT Turbo listed.. As i don't know the difference.. Even when i phoned them up they didn't seem so sure Quote
_shaun_ Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Down to 900 if i say its a GT non turbo according to confused lol (Dont think theirs such thing but hey)honestly first thing call sky up and speak to them am sure they will do far better than most places they quoted me less for a massive list of mods on my glanza than the cheapest on confused.com wanted for a standard glanza Quote
ryan lang Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 wouldnt insure it as a non turbo anyway bud, you'll be buggered if anything happensadrian flux are good aswell, try them directly on le phone Quote
Lukas oversteer parry Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Lol might try adrian flux tomorrow they seem to be good with modified cars insurance is just a lottery game tbh i got a quote on an audi rs4 for 1800 quid for a laugh :L just doesnt seem to make sense the starlet would obv cost less to repair it has a smaller engine i just dont get it. nazzurro19 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 i never understood what mods needed to be declared?cause if you look on there sites things like gearknobs aint listed so do they need to be declared?also things like carbon vinyl the interior does things like that need to be declared too ? _shaun_ Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 they seem a pain sky sent me a sheet for mods to mark of which had every thing from gearknob steering wheel.... fancy pedals... i called them back to say to them when i was done the list to ask if my policy would change for all the lil things i hadnt botherd to say on phone they said nah they just liked to no what was done to it Quote
ryan lang Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 yes, if you dont declare stickers they can void your claim, the theiving bastards!declare everything possible, most of it they wont charge you extra for, but because you havent declared something, its a loophole for them to rip you off the shitebags Quote
Lukas oversteer parry Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 fair play i will try sky tomorrow and see what they say Quote
