TrisK
brings a tear come to my eyes when weighty speakers are put inside EP'sThis is why i mounted it all on that board.Sub + amp are all bolted to one peice of mdfand the parcel shelf is another peice of mdfso when i do events, like the sprint i did i can just lift it all out easily
TrisK
fitted my JD towing eye today.looks awesome with the laguna splitterneed to do the de-cat at some point too, i have it just havent put it on yetStainless steel.
TrisK
ok, so my decat got fitted yesterday. it pops nicely now but i am creeping slightly, i was previously at about 0.9, creeping to 1 bar, but now im more at 1 bar, creeping to 1.1.my turbo timer is recording a peak last night of 1.12 bar, previous max was 1.02 bar.so which way do i need to turn the actuator arm to reduce the boost?also, i have my civic rad mounting kit from JD tuning. should be picking up the rad this weekend, then will get the rad on, air con out, and a front mounted airfilter.im guessing this will cause more boost creep, so actuator down for that.then im hoping i should have the money to invest in a JAM/Blitz ECU good times.anybody have an estimated idea of power?turbo back exhaustfront mount air filterair con removedcivic rad1 bar on a ct9JAM/Blitz ECUwould 180 be optimistic?EDIT:JAM spoiler should be back from my mate who is doing it for me, next weekend.also this weekend, fog lights are being tinted yellow
Sparky
Yea back the actuator off a touch you will loose a bit of spoil but wont creep so much.180hp at least mate, would be a pretty good setup.Dont think fitting the civic rad or removing air con will increase creep though I doubt it tbh but again its just a case of backking the actuator off a turn or two. TrisK
which way do i turn the actuator? noob question:p towards the drivers or passenger side?really! is 180 possible still with a tmic? i want a fmic, but i need to decide what im doing with the bumper first - cut it all out and get it all smoothed and resprayed properly i think
Sparky
Didnt realise you didnt have a FMIC, my car was awful with the TMIC, would only take a caning for 2minutes before going into limp mode used to get soooooo hot!!But wind the actuator out (lengthen it) to decrease boost
TrisK
Didnt realise you didnt have a FMIC, my car was awful with the TMIC, would only take a caning for 2minutes before going into limp mode used to get soooooo hot!!But wind the actuator out (lengthen it) to decrease boostThe starlets have a limp mode? whats the symptoms? lower rev limit?Ok my shopping listCheap bumper (To go on whilst fiberglassing the 98 spec for the FMIC cutout)FMIC - What brand is best (HDI?) - havent some got better piping routes over othersJAM/Blitz Access ECU (Think i would rather the Blitz)Non Glanza (Minus Aircon belt)Civic Rad (to go with the JD tuning civic rad mounting kit)Hoses to relocate my airfilter to behind the bumper
SoundEvo
looking good!love how low the car is!nice install in the boot!
TrisK
looking good!love how low the car is!nice install in the boot!haha thanks matewell, just a few small updates this weekend.my mate is a sign write, so he got me some yellow tinting vinyl, and about 10 mins each fog lightthey are much yellower than that, phone camera doesnt pick it up very well :/ill get some better picsthanks Jac!also, this arrived earlier this weekso should be buying my civic rad soon, ive told the guy i want it, he just hasnt told me when i can pick it upstill waiting for the JAM spoiler back, then this will all be coming togetherAlso, somebody local to me wants to buy my 98 spec bumper, so i think i might order a Varis front bumper#will save me a load of time cutting for a FMIC. what do people think?
ollie ryan
looking goodpersonally i think the varis bumper is so over done, seems more common then a 98sxpec bumper so i would say get the oem lip instead
TrisK
just a pic of my fogs fitted, so happy with them, think they look mint!Im tempted by a varis, just as the smoothing and respray of the bumper would cost so much over here :/not sure, ill have to think about what i want to do.... TrisK
took the aircon out today. you all know what that looks likealso, moved my air filter to the front bumper.just a cheeky shot of it peering through the front bumperhappy with it, although i really need to turn the actuator down now, as its creeping boostalso confirmed my actuator is an HKS. now the air intake isnt in the way you can see the hks on the top of it.also pleased with how much easier oil changes are going to be without the aircon rad in the way ;)
ollie ryan
looking good mateyou still got your boot carpet for me?

ollie ryan
lol i have bought a new rubber mate to put over the new carpet lol, my current one now stinks of paint and has holes in so want a fresh one lol
TrisK
so after fitting the relocated air filter, i was getting terrible creep.and after a spirited drive, i looked at my turbo timer (which records peak boost over the drive)and saw this:So, out came the 10mm, and wound the actuator down two turns. so i am now running a much more confortable 0.8which creaps a little bit, but nothing as crazy as above.next call:plug n play ecufront mountmanifold
Amjad
Quick question, you need to take off the actuator arm off to adjust it don't you? Been a while since I did it lol
TrisK
yes mate.crack the bolt off, just loosen it a bittake the circlip off the back of where the actuator arm meets the wastegatepull the nipple on the actuator out the hole on the wastegatetwist the actuator arm, longer to reduce boost, shorter to increase. put back on.hook circlip on.take for a drive to check its oktwist nut up to meet the arm.remember, it needs less than you think. ie for me, 2 whole turns reduced it by 0.3-0.
TrisK
ok, well last week i bought a rad off my mate, from his civic that he was breaking, cost me £10.although the rad was looking a bit worse for wearBut it came with a working fan and all that.today the postman left me a package...so i bolted it all together and...tomorrow i will bolt on the civic rad kit from JDTuning, so its ready to go into my car. Also today, i ordered some blue silicone rad hoses, so as soon as they are here, it should go into my carhopefully by this weekend...
