i had a go in an em1 civic coupe last night. is been dropped on the deck and got some camber on. and i have to say i was really impressed. for a 1.6 vtec it pulls like a train from 40 to 100 (private roads) and the handling was unbeleivable. so much better than my glanza im afraid to say.

i know im forgetting really that we've only got 1.3 turbs. but it was nice.

has anyone else some opinions on these?

and is there any way of making an ep91 handle like one of these civics?

everyone knows that the honda chassis handle much better than starlets, thats why alot of people move to Honda from their Starlets.

Most of the time they come back though lol as they miss boost.

Theres nothing better than the kick of a turbo for a rush imo

on that note im going for a rip now lol

I gotta be honest I do want a high power n/a to thrash about, take so much more death than a turbo car and just comes back for more.

An Integra DC2 would be my choice.

I know I would miss the Starlet and boost though so boosted vtec FTW :D

They do handle REALLY well but gotta be honest, I have been glued to the bumper of a modded ek9 around a roundabout, I think an LSD makes a massive improvement aswell as coilovers, stiffer antiroll bars etc the list goes on.

Ive got a dc2, handles amazing way way better than my glanza, in vtec the thing just keeps pulling and pulling, its not for everyone tho, alot of people get bored of it if they had a turbo car before. I have to say ive not got bored of it yet :D

Need to drive it too hard to actually go fast.Handling is amazing but thats about all thats going for them. As above though, you might love it, you might hate it,just depends on you :D

+1 to this. You have to rev the nuts of it to get it to go anywhere! I personally love a good handling car and this for me would be the only persuasion for me getting a civic, integra.

Never realy saw what the fuss is about on vtec, its like a crazy camed turbo without the turbo lol lazy at lower rpm n then an anticlimax at high rpm. Starlet eats them no bother, for hadaling I've got 3point front and rear struts, rear cage, coilovers, fully polybushed, panhard rod, lsd, 15" alloys and a great set of tyres. Still gotta fit rear arb, antilift kit and some lower bars, but it already handles like a monster!!!!!

Oh and you need a bucket seat to go on there aswell shorty :)

my mate has the new civic type r and its got a gorgeous interior but it just doesnt feel the same as a turbo....i dont think i could have an unturbo'd one! Did handle well though and has a nice driving position!

Do what you feel is the best option mate.....i would have a glanzza personally onlhy after chassis mods and coilies....but i wouldnt complain to have either!

All my mates drive Honda's the only 1 id have is a DC2 but i drove my mates and i was so unimpressed by it apart from handling, CRX boring, B18 EK9 but i haven't seen that go or drove that but can only imagine it to be similar to driving the DC2 i drove.

But a turbo'd honda on the otherhand could well be the killer blow as the potential from them engines from a turbo conversion is crazy, soon to be helping a mate fit a D16Z6 into his LSI out of an ESI then turbo'ing that some make about 300bhp on stock engine.

And the thing is, dropping a civic on some half decent springs gives just as good, if not better handling, albeit without actually having to try. I'm torn between another starlet or another civic. I love how honda handles, but wouldnt be happy with the lazy at low revs driving style. Its just one of those things where its down to the users personal preference. Hence why if I dont go for another ZR i'll be going for a boosted civic haha! Best of both worlds:D

A guy in worksop is running over 450bhp on a b18c4, with still more to go, not shown any signs of failing either lol. Sounds mental

ive dropped mine back down today, wasnt happy last night at being able to take the roundabouts near us faster in his car than mine. im yet to find out if its better or not, i cant see it not being.

the vtecs are a strong engine standard so they can take a lot. but as most of you have said, i dont think you could beat a glanza that handles nearly as well as a civic.

i was impressed with the vtec and the pull but you do have to thrash the nuts off it, but really its not like you dont have to flog a 4efte to get the turbo spoolin is it lol, just that the pull from a turbo is better than the vtec pull imo

also i think the only honda id have atm is a dc2 (98spec) or a dc5. am a bit partial towards the import civic (the ep3 shape but import)

How come you can Turbo these with stock internals and not blow them up?

Just honda build quality, was a mag feature a while back which had a turboed s2000, ran 600+ on standard internals, then decided to forge it, had a custom billet race head made, it then ran less power than the stock head!, they're just so well designed and built.

Yer racetech do a turbo kit over on civiclife capable of 450 on stock b18 its crazy as thats more than enough tbf, still no torque tho.

I been looking into getting a honda jazz and slipping a k20 into it, maz from hond-r told me whats involved. Im just not sure where i can get uprated suspension and brakes for a jazz unless you can pinch stuff off other honda's. Then who knows a jackson racing supercharger and they make about 300bhp and sound mental.

Pretty sure that kit is based on whats fitted to the civic I mentioned. Car is mental, who cares about torque when it goes like it does lol!

That will be Hadfield ;) which is a racetech built car, theres also a uk teg si (b18c4 again) built pretty much same doing a dyno proven 420+ both got best 1/4 mile of 12.0/12.2.

The reason hondas can take big power on stock internals is honda over engineer everything haha

Id have a honda over the starlet anytime they just seem to be more to insure then starlet :)

Infact my car is currently for sale so i can buy a Honda, then its getting coilies/camber arms etc and a big turbo (350bhpish on a b16 possible) which i think everyone will admit will own pretty much everything you come up against on our uk roads without going to track days etc

however driving a N/A Vtec is soooooooo fun, okay you have to rev its nuts off but N/A "raggers" are awsome fun, may not be the fastest or most economical way to get around but if we wanted economy we would own dervs and theres allways going to be something "faster" anyway

such as backyard racings D16 turbo civic, 1.6 single cam (16v but single cam ! wierd hondas lol) doing 480hp on a built motor with cast pistons !!! alot of D16 builds dont even used forged pistons but cast pistons from a Suzuki Vitara !!!!(all be it slightly differant IIRC) and if anybody dont bileave me, Ricky from racetech will back any of this up as thats his main line of work ha

Indeed it is Mr Hadfield. I think the teg was a grey one? Hepples if I remember, which I think he's sold. It seems now Hadfield has proved it can be done, everyone is going down that route.

If you wanna see a seriously boosted Honda, check out Bisimoto's wagon which runs over 700+ at the wheels!

The grey teg was Epples yes now owned by another one of the race-tech family lol and used most days aswell !! up for sale now for 6k

Bisimotos 700bhp wagon is on a single cam aswell :) all though i dont trust american dynos tbh they seem to read alot higher then uk kdynos for same mods and boost etc but thats just me.

Hondas impo are just pure win, but that imo ofcourse

I have driven a Honda civic eg B16 vtec.

And that was soooo boring.

But i would love to own a Honda S2000. That's a real sports car, with a great engine and fantastic handling. And when you get bored, then strap a Jackson Racing Supercharger on it :-)

probably gunna chop my scoob in for a DC5 pre facelift :)... still look sick yeah it will be slower but you get alot of car for what it is.

Not a fan of eg's ek's etc etc, the shape it just to common and boy racer for my liking.
