How many is too many in your books?

Recommended Posts

Been looking at a lot of Glanza V's recently and when i go to find out how many previous owners they've had, they are all coming back at around 5. An example of one which i thought would of had very few owners is this: White Glanza V Even this has had 5 owners! To me this puts me off as its had more than 1 owner every year! What is everyone elses view on previous owners?

5 uk owners god knows how many jap owners who cares ? if the cars in good condition serviced n got paper work then surly it shudnt bother you ?

Thats the thing, alot of them are claiming to not have that much service history or none at all. The only question i would be asking myself about the 5 owners is why are they all selling up so fast? Makes me think theres something up with the car. Probably just me worrying!

could be people cant afford to insure them run them etc, i brought my car with 190,000 miles on the clocks but apparently it had an engine swap with one that only had 70000khms didnt put me off lol ill just put a new engine in if this one does go pop :o

look at the condition of the car and engine really, if its been looked after then no need to worry really...

i bought a celica gt with 14 owners on and 130k... but looked stunning and was well looked after with no problems at all

I agree dude is too many, id be worrying about how thrashed it was and that fact that no one has prob even considered an oil change! I imported mine privately and it came with full jap service history too! Im the only uk owner in the 3-4years its been in the country, you want to buy an enthusiasts car bud, one thats been known on the forums etc :o

loads of cars have many, many owners... doesn't mean much if the cars in good condition.

due to the cost of insurance, and generally the type of market people will only hold onto a car for year or so.

I have never had a car more then a year haha! so yeah i'l be contributing to the level of owners cars have :o

i dont think a car has been ragged if its had multiple owners...might be harder to trace modifications, but aslong as it has good service history etc. my glanza came with no jap history but was stock with a uk lady owner so wasnt so much of a risk

in my lil town there was a silver corsa in town that had 23owners in 5 years of it being in the town :o then i spoted it on piston heads guy was selling it with a "lost" v5 so they were just gonna get a bit of paper to send to dvla and it had "23k genuine miles". :p feel sorry for person that bought it lol outside looked fine but thing was destroyed from being thrashed around and like every 10th owner changing the oil lol

Dont get me wrong a uk car with 12 owners and 130k on it thats 10-15years old isnt an issue, a jap import like a glanza is either looked after right by some one who loves it or ragged to shit by a chav, 5 owners in 5 years is too many for me, 5 owners in 15 years i could live with. The other issue is he saying they dont have service history, again not a real issue but if a cars changed hands alot then theres no way of knowing if its maintaimed, at least an enthusiast who has owned it 2-3years and done some modding is far more likley to of changed timing belt, reg oil etc

I've had mine for 3 months and i am selling it and then sometimes i think fuck it i won't sell it, then couple of days later i put it back up lol.

We bought a Merc with 11 previous owners and it was a shit bucket, no surprise we sold it. So you gotta be carefull you do'nt want the wrong piece of shit that every one keeps flogging because its crap.

I will be put of with too many owners on these cars

Dont get me wrong im not saying just becasue a car has had a lot of owners it means its going to be shit. The only reason its putting me off is that its had 5 owners in the space of about 4 years. Coupled with the fact theres hardly any service history. I think ill just go and have a look and see whats what!

With Cars like these they get shifted around a lot due to people moving on. People not being able to insure them. Finacial situations.

At the end of the day if the cars in good condition, and has been looked after and has some service history and some paperwork then it really shouldnt matter.

i was the 5th owner of my first glanza and it ran perfect. there were a few marks on the bodywork and light scratches on the door etc but engine wise it was fine. depends what you want. my new glanza im only the 2nd owner and bodywork is mint, the guy before me had it a couple of years and never went anywhere in it and was completely standard. old one had no service history and new one had loads. im sure if you wait the right one will come up

what difference does it make really? how do any of us know how many previous owners any of our cars have had in japan.

i baught a mk2 xr2 with 19 previous owners and it never missed a beat until i put it on its roof :o

The only reason the number of uk owners plays on my mind is because of the amount of chavs which just dont give a shit about cars and pass them onto the next owner. Like said above, it could just be people not being able to afford the car anymore. I dont know this and im not sure if i want to take the risk.

I don want to ask how you managed that :p
