Craig_T
Alright,Just wondering where is the best/cheapest place for Rota Grids?Want some 15x6.5 in white.
ToyotaTech15
Try rare rims,I got mines from there a few years ago, quite cheapGary
Dan507
there pretty cheap in Driftworks, i'd recomend getting the Grid V's tho ;)
Craig_T
Yeh I looked on there Gary, they went up in price, probably due to the VAT..Is the V's the one with the dish? Not sure how they'd be on big brake clearance, as that is the only reason I am getting new wheels too. fulham4eva
rimstyle are pretty good
Sparky
Dished or not the clearance all depends on the offset
Craig_T
Yeh but say the wheel is like this..\=/The equals being my calipar, and the slashes hub outwards, wouldn't the dished ones have less clearance as they have to go closer in at one point to get the dish on the spokes? Dan507
On driftworks the v's are 15x7 ET20
Craig_T
I don't actually understand offsets, so means nothing to me LOL
Craig_T
Higher offset, more clearance I will have? Is that right..
Sparky
Lower the number the further the wheel will stick out
Craig_T
Right.. So then if I have a low offset, will it not end up sticking out too much? What offset is usually used on starlets?
Amjad
Lower offset, more clearanceET38-40 for Starlets
Craig_T
So does anyone know if 15x6.5 ET40 Rota Grids clear Ksport/wilwoods?
Glanza_cl
doubt it... most upgrade to 16's with big brake upgrades.I would look at 16x7/8 et 38/40. but if you realy dont want 16's then possible 15x7/8 et 30/
Craig_T
I know Ksport and wilwoods fit under 15's, I not going 16's. It is the calipar hitting on spokes, not the size of the disk so it is just a case of the offset.
Glanza_cl
can allways get the most common type as finding a low offset isnt allways easy so there will be loads of 15x7 ET35 grids... then you can just get some spacers if needed to clear the calipers. 5-10mm spacers should clear it no probs ;)
Keri-WMS
Alloys with any "dish" or lip are a nightmare for fitting brakes, makes more difference than offset in many cases!Or buy a kit that fits in the first place, the WMS 277x25 kit should fit under most 15's, and failing that there's another 3mm of spoke clearance available with the 275x22 size.... ;) The trouble with changing the wheel offset from factory standard is it messes up the handling, tends to induce torque-steer and squirming under braking. Sparky
My Wilwoods clear my Final Speeds ;) just about, not a massive offset either probably between et38-
lew777
Mine are 15s with wilwoods and 10mm spacers
Liam_D
As said mate, rarerims or Driftworks are the best for Rota wheels mate.
Craig_T
Cheers liam but we are onto sizes and stuff now ;)Hmm, someone must have some grids with big brakes?
Glanza_cl
as above mate, they will fit but you probably will need some slip on spacers... 10mm couple of quid, job done, sorted ;)
Craig_T
Want to go without spacers though thats the point. If rota's don't fit, then I will just put spacers on my wheels I got on now...
