series70boy Posted March 17, 2011 Share Posted March 17, 2011 hi allhave been offline for a while and its good to be back!!!!! i have missed the clubs warm welcome and friendly banter!!!!!!but i have a question!!!!!!!my car is now in use (dad using it to stop it siezing up!!!) and i has passed its mot< second time around, it needed its carb setting changing cause it was running at 12% and apparebtly it should be about 4, this is where the question comes in, he charged us £20 quid and said come back in 20mins and it will be done and have passed. but we have noticed the fuel economy is really really bad!!! dad is getting 27mpg out of the ep70 with the 2e engine, i think thats way off, plus the car stinks of fuel when its running!!!!! i think we have been ripped off and that that sort of milage has too be wrong, am i right????????thanks in advance and ps watch my build thread, some pics and some updates to be uploaded asap!!!!!!!! shorty Posted March 17, 2011 Share Posted March 17, 2011 good to see you back dude, and yes thtas shite! take it to an old school tuner, someone who works on old minis and escort mk1/2 etc and they will sort the carb out, it may need a different needle and spring (can get sports ones by the way) and they should be able to sort it for you dude think i payed around 60quid back in the day when i had a tuned mini Quote Link to post Share on other sites
hill_bill10 Posted March 17, 2011 Share Posted March 17, 2011 yeh doesnt sound rright to me, when i had mine i was able to do 100miles to a tenner in fuel at about 90p per litre, not sure what that works out to but im pretty sure its better than 27mpg.did you take it to a fuel injection specialist? if not i would definatly recommend that, and check the timing is right too Quote Link to post Share on other sites
