GT Phayer
thats how i got it when you go to boot it the gauge just stays on 0 doesnt go any higher any ideas mate
steve-gers
did the turbo spin freely before it was fitted?
GT Phayer
yes mate
GT Phayer
just to add its standard ecu and fueling with a fcd and pressure regulator but dont think this would stop it ?
GT Phayer
this is on the right way round ?
steve-gers
Only other things I can think of is wastegate stuck open, bov stuck open, badly cracked inlet or exhaust manifold, badly worn gaskets. Obviously most things would just cause more lag but just trying to help.
GT Phayer
its all brand new mate if i blank off the dump valve would that help to try and iliminate it ?
GT Phayer
also how can i check the wastegate i dont get no screamer noise either
steve-gers
Yeah it would eliminate that being the cause but doubtful that it is. Have you double checked all intercooler piping for holes and silicone hoses for damage? Could also be if the pipes don't line up correctly at the joints.
steve-gers
I think you can connect the ewg to a compressor and put a pressure into it greater than spring pressure to test not sure though maybe someone could confirm
GT Phayer
yes mate checked them all but surely i would stull here the turbo spool ?
steve-gers
Yeah I would of thought so that's why I asked 1st if it was spinning freely. If you could maybe take the air filter piping off and start the car and check to see if it spins or not.
GT Phayer
yer il start with that it did spin freely before i fitted it
GT Phayer
right had a look at it today and the turbo spins freely, i blocked the dump valve off and still no boost and ive took the wastegate off and put it on a compressor and it seems to move fine any other ideas :/
steve-gers
Don't have any other idea's unless a vacuum leak somewhere would cause it. Maybe best to double check exhaust and inlet manifolds and also boost pipes. You could do a leak test on the intercooler pipes to better check for leaks.
GT Phayer
how do you do a leak test mate ?
steve-gers
Not sure what's the best way to do it, you would possibly need something that fits over your intercooler piping that has a connection for an air compressor hose at the other end and put 'x' amount of pressure into the piping (making sure its sealed off at the other end somehow) and see if it reduces in pressure over time and if so how fast. Either that or you could use some kind of smoke and see if it escapes out at any of the joints or that.
GT Phayer
ok mate thanks for your help theres no sensors or anything i have to unplug changing from internal to external wastegate or something silly like that is there

WallaceGlanza
ok mate thanks for your helptheres no sensors or anything i have to unplug changing from internal to external wastegate or something silly like that is thereNope.I would reckon it's most likely a vacuum leak somewhere, is all the intercooler piping ok. Can you hear the turbo spooling at all?
GT Phayer
no i cant hear anything but when you rev it the turbo does spin
5T4R7ET N/A
so when you rev the car at idle the boost gauge doesnt move at all?
