Standard clutch - How much punishment (bhp) can it take?

Recommended Posts

The clutch is being used for track and not Drag runs, I wanted to know how much power i can put through it before it starts to slip. I have read through a load of questions on it in TGTT with no real answer.

Only reason I am asking is because loads of people on TGTT are saying anything over 200bhp and it will slip and it wont last 6 months, but from my experience thats a load of shit. I fitted a new Exedy standard replacement clutch over 12 months ago and was running the car at about 205 continious and 220hp in bursts and never had slippage problems and when i took the clutch off the other day it looks as new as when i fitted it 12months ago.

So my real question is how much power can i put through it before it will slip, i have put over 210bhp through it and its still pulling like a train. I am just wondering what the peak power is on before it slips?

I guess i will keep turning up the boost until it does!
