Taggy
The clutch is being used for track and not Drag runs, I wanted to know how much power i can put through it before it starts to slip. I have read through a load of questions on it in TGTT with no real answer.Only reason I am asking is because loads of people on TGTT are saying anything over 200bhp and it will slip and it wont last 6 months, but from my experience thats a load of shit. I fitted a new Exedy standard replacement clutch over 12 months ago and was running the car at about 205 continious and 220hp in bursts and never had slippage problems and when i took the clutch off the other day it looks as new as when i fitted it 12months ago.So my real question is how much power can i put through it before it will slip, i have put over 210bhp through it and its still pulling like a train. I am just wondering what the peak power is on before it slips?I guess i will keep turning up the boost until it does!
TrisK
horse power means nothing to a clutch, its torque that it will have the issue with
AdamB
horse power means nothing to a clutch, its torque that it will have the issue withThis, clutches are rated in ft/lbs or Nm.

turbo Grant
Haha, na just my aggressive driving I think. See how long the act lasts
Taggy
Yeah I guess its down to driving style, on track it doesn't really get hammered as the car is always moving, I guess drag would be a different story!
turbo Grant
i wouldnt use a stock clutch on the 5e wont be long till you would be changing it again.
Taggy
yeah i was thinking that, there is alot more torque isnt there on the 5e
_shaun_
also u will have to get a new flywheel seems pointless to change flywheels but not uprate the clutch at the same time i think u just have an addiction to taking your engine out the car
Taggy
nah its just the thought of spending another £300 on a clutch!
Liam_D
Mines running about 180bhp ish and my standard one was getting too hot and causing it too slip So got a Blitz Active in there now, seems to handle it veryyyy easily lol
