Buying a Starlet... Again!!

Recommended Posts

I sold my 170bhp gt turbo about 2 months ago, and i'm really missing it now and considering buying one again,

I bought a 120bhp heavy fat bmw, its comfy warm, luxuary, and goes round corners... ive heard a couple of people have bought starlets again after selling theirs,

Should i do it or not!!

I am very tempted, what do you think is a reasonable price for a td04 gt / glanza?

and also how do they handle with suspension mods - cause my old gt turbo with no suspension or handling mods handled pretty bad, and thats one thing i do love about my bmw..

What cars have you owned?

my opinion on the bmw is, looks nice, newer, and handles good, everything else is in favor of the starlet :p

I've got an E46 330d sport - rwd, 250bhp and 380lb ft, it's totally different to drive and great for the daily but my glanza would be the choice for back road fun every time.

So much more raw and exciting. And it would easily out handle the big beemer. (a 120bhp beemer must be boring by the way :p)

What mods does the starlet need in order to outhandle an E46?

Well mine has pretty much everything you can bolt on bar a rollcage, however I would say coilovers, a rear arb, decent tires and a good alignment will give you a great handling starlet. Aslong as the bushes are still in ok condition, if not then poly bushes will improve it even further. :)

318  That thing will never go sideways. :harhar: Get back in a turbo tin can and have fun.

What are peoples opinion on buying from a trader? last time i bought from a trader it turned out he bought a bmw with a Headgasket failure and chucked some jollop in there and sold it to me at full price....I phoned a trader selling a starlet today and he didnt know much about the car, apart from he said " we put a new TD04 on it, its been reconditioned and you can see that,

he said the boost hasnt been setup cause its literally just been installed, and that i need to get that sorted, i dont really know what he means by that

If u interested in the one u have found mate they go check it out but just do the usual compression test leave it running till warm check for coloured smoke etc it may not be to bad just the trader doesn't know much about em u could always walk away If it's not what your looking for
