shelly_star Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Hey guys. I am in need of some new front brake disc, can anyone tell me whether it's essential to have ABS versions for my glanza 1996? As some brake disc's i've seen are listed for ABS and Non ABS.... is that important??I've found these which were really cheap, anyone think it will be any good?http://www.crnperfor...discs-pair.htmlAnd can anyone tell me whether grooved, dimpled, plain is best?????? where else sells good brake disc for starbos, i've seen ebc ones from monstermotors i think. Thanks!!!! H_D Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 if you have abs you will need abs discs,i usually use bluprint discs with sard pads and they do the job nicely. Quote
ro55ifumi Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 ShellyYes you will need ABS discs if your V has ABS, the EBC fast road package is a quality upgrade and well worth a look, try Tuning Developments or even Iddy.John Quote
shelly_star Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks guys for that, someone told me that only the rear brakes are ABS so the fronts are fine, that true yeah? Quote
james@cjperformance Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 abs rings for the fronts are on the cv joints and on the back they are part of the disc. front discs should be the same Quote
turbo Grant Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 The front abs runs off the c.v joints. I wouldn't think there is much difference in the discs. I'm an ep82 boy tho Quote
shelly_star Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 any difference in grooved, dimpled or plain disc's? Quote
james@cjperformance Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 dont bother with dimpled, just go for grooved, they work fine unless your tracking it Quote
H_D Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 your right about the discs on the front as the abs ring is on the C.V but you must get the abs ones for the rears Quote
Blitz Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 dont go dimpled i ve had 2 or three sets of the ebc grooved and dimpled and they all cracked Quote
dazzariley69 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 talk to iddy, he offerd me a grooved set up with a choice of green or yellow stuff pads i believe it was Quote
shelly_star Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 dont go dimpled i ve had 2 or three sets of the ebc grooved and dimpled and they all crackedI've seen those brake disc, they actually look quite nice i notice Iddy sells them for £128 Quote
Idrees Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 The CRN are cheap nasty discs that have been grooved. EBC are quality.I had those discs you posted in your first link on my old 211bhp GT. They lasted about 6-8 weeks. ;) Quote
Ryan-11 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I ran CRN discs and yellow stuff pads for 2 years with 250bhp, works fine for me, i think its luck of the draw. Quote
Asad Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Sorry bro but they are pagid discs, which are fitted by audi etc....ive been beating on a set for 20-25k? now with redstuffs without fault....I had the same thought but was set straight by ollie, read around on the other forums Go with grooves, 5-6 is ample not the gazillion that most come with Quote
Idrees Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 They use Blueprint discs too (so I am told).I stripped my car after 6-8 weeks of using these discs and there was barely anything left on them. They were CRN's early days though, maybe they've improved. They made an awful humming noise when breaking hard too, I heard a few others say this back at that time too (on TGTT iirc). Quote
shelly_star Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 I did email CRN....... no darn reply yet... grrr!! Quote
